About this audiobook

When the children of Glenwood begin vanishing one by one, baffling local and federal authorities alike, the idyllic New England suburb becomes anything but a utopia.

Built upon the ruins of a lost colony, Glenwood harbors a long-forgotten secret, and when three strangers are lured into the midnight woods by the phantom of a Puritan boy, they discover the truth of the town's dark past and must face a vision of its bloody future.

Together, this unlikely trio-Jay, an alcoholic school teacher, Tim, a wise-cracking new kid in town, and Sarah, a nine-year-old with a handful of imaginary friends-must find a way to rescue the town from a terrifying supernatural force to prevent history from repeating itself.

The writing was great, it gave me some Stephen King “IT” nostalgia, and I was completely impressed by how flawed the characters were. Overall great book!

I received this book from Netgalley and CreateSpace. Thank you.I liked this book, what disappointed me a little was the ending. Cavignano's writing style is good but the story had a lot of loose ends and characters who were brought into the narrative and then forgotten about. The story also seemed to skip a bit here and there. This made the story disjointed. There was also sex between the demon and the women in the book which I felt wasn't really necessary to the story.Overall the book is an entertaining story mainly because of the characters and the ordeals they go through to save their town. But the background of the demon itself should have explored more I think it has added more to the tale.

This is my first book by Derik Cavignano, but will not be my last. It took me a few chapters to get hooked, and then I had a hard time putting down my kindle, because I need to see where it would lead. The 3 main characters are very different, but all share the same mission, one they were chosen for, to save their town from destruction.

You have a drunk and 2 school aged children who are thrown into a world of despair, evil, and destruction, but they are the only hope to save the community from what lurks in the shadows.

This is a perfect read for those who like sci-fi, with twists and turns enough to keep you on edge.

I recieved a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Colony of the Lost is a gripping tale of an evil being that is hell bent on kidnapping and destroying the entire town of Glenwood, starting with the children. Three unlikely friends are on a mission to destroy a creature no one else can see. Jay, an alcoholic, Tim, a sarcastic freshman and Sarah, a nine year old must come together if they want to save their loved ones.

I found Colony of the Lost to be a quick, fun read with believable characters and detailed imagery. While I found some parts of the story were a bit iffy (how can a wanted man get around a small town without the police noticing? And can nobody hear gunshots being fired from such a close proximity?) the overall feeling of the book wasn't bad.

I quite enjoyed getting to be inside Jay's head as he battled with alcoholism and sobriety. I applaud the author for how well this character was portrayed.

If you are looking for something unique and not too heavy, Colony of the Lost is definitely the book for you.
