About this audiobook
Never Get Angry Again, by New York Times and internationally bestselling author David J. Lieberman, is a comprehensive, holistic look at the underlying emotional, physical, and spiritual causes of anger, and a practical guide to what the listener can do to gain perspective.
David J. Lieberman understands that a change in perspective is all that is needed to help keep from flying off the handle. In Never Get Angry Again, he reveals how to see anger through a comprehensive, holistic lens, illuminates the underlying emotional, spiritual, and physical components of anger, and gives the listeners simple, practical tools to snuff out anger before it even occurs.
Take a deep breath and count to ten. Meditate. Visualize your happy place.
You’ve probably heard all of these anger management techniques and more from friends, family, and experts, but somehow they miss the mark when it comes to coping with the complex emotion of anger.
Let’s face it: if anger-management techniques were effective, you wouldn’t be listening to this audiobook. These clumsy attempts to maintain calmness are usually futile and sometimes emotionally draining. The fact is, either something bothers us (causing anxiety, frustration, or anger), or it doesn’t. A state of calm is better accomplished by not becoming agitated in the first place. When we fight the urge to blow up or melt down, we fight against our own nature.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I wish the book did not take a religious turn. Besides that is a decent read

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5If this book had been true to the summary, it would have been a masterpiece that I would have purchased for everyone even remotely important in my life. Instead, it jumped all over the place, randomly quoted from the bible, said essentially that if someone trusts that god loves them then they won't get angry, blah blah blah, then suddenly it was back to pertinent information and tips, then back to religion, etc. Some of the info was super interesting and useful about what really happens when we get angry & why, but a lot of this book made me question whether it was even worth finishing.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Was going okay until he started going on and on about his deity. FYI sir, you can’t right a book about anger while preaching about your god and it’s not-so-holy book filled with anger, punishment, murder, slavery, and more. Good grief get a clue already.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked the acknowledgement that we are body and soul. I liked the use of empirical data to support assertions. There are so many heart warming and helpful suggestions to improve oneself and understand others that I will be listening to this book over and over for some time!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was too theoretical to me, and should have been supplemented with real-life examples.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Covered everything you need to work on anger issues. Loved this book
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5an amazing and life changing book, a must read for everyone.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm an atheist and went into this book knowing about the religious angle from other reviews. Reviews for the book were overwhelmingly positive, and it was relevant enough to my interests that I decided to try it out anyway. I have mixed feelings, but overall I found it a valuable read.
God stuff/what to skip: I actually stopped listening, rolling my eyes, when he started laying it on thick suddenly, but in the end decided to skip the 2-3 religious chapters (out of 30+) and stick it out since I liked the earlier part of the book. I'm glad I did, because I did find other parts of it helpful. There are little references here and there, but outside of chapters 11-13 (IIRC), the spirituality is mild. While the religious bent made me critical about the wisdom of other advice in the book, the author frequently mentioned concepts I had encountered in therapy or secular anger management practices.
The bulk of the book: This book put some things in perspective to me and showed me some new ways of thinking about/relating to my anger. I most certainly will get angry again, but there are some nuggets of wisdom offered in this book that I will keep as valued tools in my arsenal against anger. It's worth the short read for these imo. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I reflect back on all the books I’ve read and audiobooks I’ve heard and think this is the one that has shook me to the core of my being and brought me back to reality from a dark place I thought I’d never escape. I’ll forever be grateful for this work and I recommend it to anyone suffering not only from anger issues but depression as well. Thank you, Dr. Lieberman!
