About this audiobook

"Harry's vision of an apocalyptic plague is as chilling as it is plausible. This masterful thriller will leave you terrified, enthralled, and desperate for the next entry in the series." -Kira Peikoff, author of No Time to Die and Die Again Tomorrow "Like Crichton and H.G. Wells, Harry writes stories that entertain roundly while they explore questions of scientific and social import." -Publishers Weekly Beginning Of The End They call it Pandoravirus. It attacks the brain. Anyone infected may explode in uncontrollable rage. Blind to pain, empty of emotion, the infected hunt and are hunted. They attack without warning and without mercy. Their numbers spread unchecked. There is no known cure. Emma Miller studies diseases for a living-until she catches the virus. Now she's the one being studied by the U.S. government and by her twin sister, neuroscientist Isabel Miller. Rival factions debate whether to treat the infected like rabid animals to be put down, or victims deserving compassion. As Isabel fights for her sister's life, the infected are massing for an epic battle of survival. And it looks like Emm a is leading the way . . . "Harry has a first-rate speculative mind, well grounded in current science. The ideas he puts forth are extremely engaging." -Kirkus Reviews "A good storyteller . . . harrowing stuff!"-The New York Times Book Review

Ok, I'm hooked, in spite of the female stereotypes in the first book. Surprisingly well researched and thought-provoking. Interesting and well-paced.

Outbreak by Davis Bunn is a fast-paced, suspense novel that was a quick read for me. The novel held my attention from beginning to end, though I spent a substantial portion of the novel feeling a bit confused. My favorite character was Della, a brave, strong woman, whose relationship with Theo starts off roughly, but develops into friendship and, later, romance.I read this with my local book club ladies and the general consensus was that we were all a bit confused throughout and that it ended quickly with not enough explanation. With all the loose ends, an epilogue or sequel would have improved the experience.

Theo Bishop, the brother of a pharmaceutical company CEO, microbiologist Avery Madison, and journalist Della Haverty are teaming up to prevent the outbreak of a global pandemic. But those who want to sweep the looming disaster under the rug aim to terminate the team's efforts, even if it means terminating the team's members in Outbreak by author Davis Bunn.Though I wasn't on the edge of my seat as I read this suspense novel, I did finish it within twenty-four hours, which isn't the norm for me and books longer than novellas. My interest ebbed and flowed throughout this one, and the drawn-out, almost uneventful events from a bad guy's perspective dulled the pace more than they built the tension for me. But the shortness of the chapters leading up to the climax helped. This is a smart read, with its mix of science, danger, a little faith, and a little romance. The ending makes a sequel quite possible without strictly making one necessary. Given that this is one of my all-time favorite ChristFic authors, if a sequel does come out, I'll likely give it a whirl.__________Bethany House provided me with a complimentary copy of this book, for which I've given an honest review.
