Due to the brevity of the text it only offers a very superficial account of Zen. This might be useful for someone interested in using meditation as a tool for fighting stress, but it isn't very helpful for understanding what Zen is about. The descriptions of Zen practice are at times a little misleading or oversimplified.

Quick and easy listen. Nothing too profound in the subject matter that will change your life. I would use the analogy that this book is the equivalent of drinking an ice cold beer or water after working outside on a hot summer day. It hits the spot and you can keep it moving. :).
Truthfully, I only “read”the book because it was mentioned in Phil Jackson’s book Eleven Rings. I assumed it would have much more depth.

Peter Coyote’s audiobook is better since he was a Zen student and a calm speaker. This book should not be read with a self-help book voice.
