About this audiobook

Barbara was 12 when she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital, Aston Hall, in 1971. From a troubled home, she'd hoped she would find sanctuary there. But during her stay, Barbara was systematically drugged and abused by its head physician, Dr Kenneth Milner. Somehow, eventually, she started to campaign for answers. This is a shocking account of how vulnerable children were preyed upon by the doctor entrusted with their care.

An honest account of child abuse by people who should of been in a position of trust. This should by made into a film if it hasn’t already. How brave you was Barbara my heart goes out to you.

Intriguing narrative told in first person. Inspite of the terrifically sad truth to her life story I found it redeeming and courageous. A story of overcoming horrific obstacles.

I listen to this book on the recommendation of Angie Power-Disney. Such a heartbreaking story that should never have been allowed to happen. Children are gifts from God. Barbara is such an inspiration, always looked at the good in everything and never gave up hope.

Such a sad sad story of a childhood so cruelly destroyed. My heart goes out to every child who suffered at the hands of those that should have been their protectors.

Wow. Hard to listen during much of it because of the horror, but it was very inspiring especially at the end. Such an important story.

These are modern times , my lifetime I'm only 60 and society in Britain continues daily in 2023 to disgust me of the cover ups , lies and mental illness care that was provided by the mentally insane covered up by alleged professionals . And it continues.
