About this audiobook

This is the 16th of 37 Emma Lathen best sellers; it features John Putnam Thatcher, SVP of the Sloan Guaranty Trust. The Parajian family owns the largest oriental rug company in the US. They are having a generational battle for stock control of the company. John Putnam Thatcher solves two murders by following the money, not the emotions.

Booktrack is an immersive listening experience that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music and sound effects. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

John Putnam Thatcher of Sloan Guaranty Trust is involved in a family quarrel among Armenian rug merchants, ending, as I recall, in the exposure of an improbable imposture.

When an elderly Sloan trust beneficiary is murdered soon after arriving in the United States to live with her family, John Putnam Thatcher and Everett Gabler must discover which family member has a deadly enough secret to kill for. Their investigation takes them into the world of Oriental rug importation and sales. This is a delightful book, one of the best in a very good series.
