About this audiobook
Saiya Buchanan is a wraith, able to detach her shadow from her body and send it off to do her bidding. But, unlike most of her kin, Saiya doesn't deal in death. Instead, she trades secrets-and in the goblin besieged city of Stirling in Scotland, they're a highly prized commodity.
It might just be, however, that the goblins have been hiding the greatest secret of them all.
When Gabriel de Florinville, a Dark Elf, is sent as royal envoy into Stirling and takes her prisoner, Saiya is not only going to uncover the sinister truth. She's also going to realize that sometimes the deepest secrets are the ones locked within your own heart.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing narratotion and writing. Was a super lucky find !
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An excellent adventure! I didn't realize it was not a series, but the tale is adventurous, perilous and fun, another score by Ms. Harper.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I did like this story! It had enough character development to keep me interested. The ending was really anticlimactic though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed a lot and I don't love love everything from Harper, but this is a nice story. Thanks
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm rating this 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the world of Sterling. I wish the romance developed a bit more naturally, but otherwise this was an excellent fantasy and the audio production was wonderful.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5WraithBy: Helen HarperNarrated by: Ruth UrquhartThis is a stand alone book but boy do I wish it was a series! I love this book so much! This is an alternative world were there is goblins, trolls, elves, humans, and wraiths. (Probably more too.) Our main gal is a wraith. She can leave her physical body and her shadow body can travel. She is not a killer. She spies to gather info and exchanges that info for food and medicine. One day she is caught spying by a dark elf. He thinks she is an assassin. Things get very complicated, especially when he finds out she is his soulmate! Lots of action, suspense, and great fantasy topped with a touch of romance!Great narration too!

Frankly I wasn't sure what I was really getting into apart from the fact it was urban fantasy and I've liked it since I discovered it last summer. The prologue was frankly unsettling and I had to read several sentences again to make sure I understood the meaning (which I didn't always manage to). However, I kept on reading and wasn't disappointed at all.
The fantasy part I think is brilliant and the concept of "wraiths" is amazing, it is unlike anything I'd ever read or heard about, which made it even more brilliant. My regret is that it was a stand-alone and some aspects of the world Helen Harper imagined are not mentioned, which I think is a shame because there are so many things we don't get to know. It totally deserves an entire series, if you want my opinion.
The characters are interesting and with multiple facets, which is something I always enjoy and look for. In addition to her beautiful name, Sayia proves to be both strong and weak, able to be a much needed truth-teller (and sarcastic, just what I love) while lying through her teeth if needed (which is often). The other characters, while not necessarily human, show many different traits of character and that's particularly good because you never know what to expect.
The plot was also really well handled, although I think the author might have wanted to throw too much into the mix for a stand-alone. In particular, the story is lacking an epilogue (and at least another book, to be honest). I love romances (trust me, I do, the amount of romance books I've read even really bad ones is ridiculous) but in that case I believe we might have been better off without that aspect. Or at least not as much as was incorporated
because the whole soul mates and destiny thing deserved much more attention, but that's what happens when you also have to, you know, save the world from goblins wanting to turn it into a dictatorship.
Anyway, I definitely recommend it, especially if you're a fan of urban fantasy and don't want to get into a series (as it is a stand-alone)!
