About this audiobook
In a divided country desperate for unity, two sons of South Carolina show how different races, life experiences, and pathways can lead to a deep friendship?even in a state that was rocked to its core by the 2015 Charleston church shooting.
Tim Scott, an African-American US senator, and Trey Gowdy, a white US congressman, won't allow racial lines to divide them. They work together, eat meals together, campaign together, and make decisions together. Yet in the fall of 2010?as two brand-new members of the US House of Representatives?they did not even know each other. Their story as politicians and friends began the moment they met and is a model for others seeking true reconciliation.
In United, Senator Scott and Congressman Gowdy, through honesty and vulnerability, inspire others to evaluate their own stories, clean the slate, and extend a hand of friendship that can change your churches, communities, and the world.
Tim Scott
Tim Scott has learned to follow instructions, but seldom does it without at least some resistance. So when told by his editor that the final thing missing from his first book was the author bio, he pointed out that since the book is a memoir, the entire thing is an author bio. So here we are. That quick irreverence and offbeat command of the obvious makes Tim a favorite among people looking for a story or two, and since he doesn't have time to tell them to everyone, he had to write some down. Just Robbed a Bank is the best of the lot. Through his stories, you will get to know the good and bad and the highs and lows of being a bank robber in modern-well, almost modern-America.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m grateful for the contributions of both of these authors. Very insightful read about civility and friendship. Folks of any political persuasion should find this a very good read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Writing: 4.5; Theme: 5.0; Content: 5.0; Language: 5.0; Overall: 5.0; This is a great book about two great people- Tim Scott and Trey Gowdy. You would think this would be a political book when the authors are a Senator and a House member, but you would be wrong. It has inklings of political topics strewn through it, but overall it is about unity in a world of disunity. This is a dual-biographical account of two men who become great friends who share everything with one another. It just happens that one is black (Tim Scott) and the other white (Trey Gowdy). Both coming to the House of Representatives in 2010 their friendship is established. They not only give great (Biblical) principles to overcome diversity and dvision, but they also share principles that will inspire each of us to become more loving individuals. Highly recommend. ***August 15, 2018***
