About this audiobook
In the latest nonstop adventure from #1 New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods, Stone Barrington must defend a woman whose business—and life—are under threat.
Stone Barrington is enjoying a round of golf in Key West when the game is violently interrupted—and it seems as if the target of the disturbance may have been one of his playing companions, the brilliant businesswoman behind a software startup on the cutting edge of technology. Soon, it becomes clear that this incident is only the first thrust in a deadly scheme to push the beautiful young woman out of the way and put her company's valuable secrets up for grabs.
From the sun-soaked Florida shores to an idyllic English country retreat, Stone embarks on a quest to protect his lovely new companion while searching for the mastermind behind the plot against her. But he may find that her enemy is far more resourceful—and dangerous—than he could have anticipated.

Reviews for Shoot First

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Shoot First is a story that keeps its pace from beginning to end. The characters are placed in situations that are believable. How they get out of each circumstance requires a bit of stretch. It pays to be Stone Barrington who has unlimited resources and close friends in high places. The book is recommended if the reader needs to worry about someone else's problems.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's the usual sex and more sex..not that I have anything against sex...but in a series with a character as interesting as Stone Barrington and some of his friends, it would be really nice to see more other types of action in the story. The one thing that I can say about any of Stuart Wood's books is that he doesn't waste time on descriptions of the room, the countryside, or anything...except of course the the sex which he manages to describe in minute detail. The female head of the corporation was also an air-head and so naive it's a wonder she could find her own a_ _ in the dark. Come on Mr. Woods bring back the Stone Barrington from the earlier books.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Stone Barrington comes to the defense of a woman whose business . . . and life . . . are threatened. With all the familiar characters in place, this forty-fifth outing for Stone Barrington finds the wealthy lawyer up to his usual and predictable antics. Some unforeseen events ramp up the suspense and the twisted plot keeps tension mounting. Filled with all the money, luxury, sex, and assassins that readers of the series have come to expect, it’s a quick, but pleasant, read. Recommended.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Stone befriends/beds a young woman entrepreneur, who has sold her self-driving car business. A disgruntled former employee is alternatively trying to kill her or extort her by causing the software to fail. Stone buys a house in Key West, flies to England and Maine while pursued by a Russian. As usual, there's lots of sex, but unusually, the female survives the experience and continues to be friends with Stone. Well, maybe we'll find out what happens to her in the next novel.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I always found The Stone Barrington series to be more a story how the rich and famous live and you incorporate a little mystery. In this book, Stone buys a new house and boat in Key West. Beds a software entrepreneur. Engages in some light gun play and occasionally practices law. If you like the Barrington series so far, you'll like this tale as it plays to the template established.
