About this audiobook
Ryan and Selena Frederick were newlyweds when they landed in Switzerland to pursue Selena's dream of training horses. Neither of them knew at the time that Ryan was living out a death sentence brought on by a worsening genetic heart defect. Soon it became clear he needed major surgery that could either save his life--or result in his death on the operating table. The young couple prepared for the worst. When Ryan survived, they both realized that they still had a future together. But the near loss changed the way they saw all that would lie ahead. They would live and love fiercely, fighting for each other and for a Christ-centered marriage, every step of the way.Fierce Marriage is their story, but more than that, it is a call for married couples to put God first in their relationship, to measure everything they do and say to each other against what Christ did for them, and to see marriage not just as a relationship they should try to keep healthy but also as one worth fighting for in every situation. With the gospel as their foundation, Ryan and Selena offer hope and practical help for common struggles in marriage, including communication problems, sexual frustration, financial stress, family tension, screen-time disconnection, and unrealistic expectations.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It has some good points and some good questions, but I wish Christian marriage books would explain and have more examples about what domestic abuse and domestic violence looks like. It gets glossed over. There’s more emphasis on how to not be angry and forgive rather than how to stay safe and set good boundaries. I disagree that reconciliation shouldn’t always be the end goal. If you are dealing with a destructive marriage - check out Leslie Vernick’s resources. This book is good for situational hardship, but not if you have an arsonist living in your home. I have multiple family and friends going through intensive hardship, and this is a good book for early building blocks, but not a great resource if the walls are falling down.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed this book. It was a thought provoking read, filled with Bible references and generously sprinkled with the authors authentic experiences. A true manual for great marriages!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is not limited to newly married or engaged couples. Couples of all ages can certainly benefit from the stories and advice in this book. It is written by a couple so you get both the male and female perspective on each situation throughout the book. It is written from a biblical perspective and approaches marriage from a gospel approach. Our marriages should glorify God. Marriage is a picture of God's good news to the world through Jesus Christ.
Their message is meant to strengthen and heal marriages in a world where marriage is failing daily in many homes. I highly recommend this book no matter what stage you are in in your marriage or if you are engaged and looking toward a marriage in the near future. It is loaded with scripture and biblical advice. Marriage was God's idea so it just makes total sense to me that His Word should be our guide. I love this book so much and give it a 5 out of 5 stars with no qualms.
