About this audiobook
Anne Frank, it has been said, gave a face and a name to the horror of the Holocaust. This is her story. It relates how Anne, her family, and their friends hid in secret rooms—"the Annex"—in an Amsterdam warehouse for 25 months. Anne, just 13 when the family moved in and only 15 when the Gestapo at last broke down the doors of her secret world, found hope where there was only fear and the first blush of love when outside and all around there washed a sea of hate.
Wrote Ernst Schnable, a German writer who has researched Frank's life: "Out of the millions that were silenced, this voice no louder than a child's whisper has outlasted the shouts of the murderers and has soared above the voices of time."

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Hearing the wrap-up after Anne’s story suddenly concluded ... mirrors a lot of what’s happening in the world today. The Evil in the world finds a way to destroy the lives of innocent people in their quest for domination and control.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5If you are a paid voice actor you make sure that you can pronounce the words correctly... the Dutch was appalling - so bad that, if I wasn’t following the text, I would not have known what the heck he was reading. I question whether actors who has no respect for the language of others should be allowed to read... it seems everyone else makes an effort ...except English mother tongue speakers ....

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The book is wonderful and something everyone should read at least once in their lifetime. The narrator's voice was perfect for the English translation but her pronunciation of the Dutch names was hit and miss. "Miep" is meant to be pronounced as Meep, not "Mee-yep", and there were several other mispronunciations that made my skin crawl. Overall though, I loved the way the narrator's voice sounded like a teenage girl and the emotion and humour was perfectly expressed.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5To put it simply, this was a fucking exceptional book. One of the best written most atmospheric and beautiful coming of age stories ever written. She was too smart, too talented, too young.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good book, describes in a very simple way how the life of common people for affected and how basic needs that we take for granted today mattered so much. The end is rather sad.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I listen to a very touching, funny at times, sad at times story and read along in my book. Anne Frank was a very brave girl and goes on many adventures somewhat physically but mostly mentally. The audio was so fine and it was easy to follow along thanks for this audiobook.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm glad that I read this book. I think everyone should read this book. When Anne talks about the mundane parts of her life; friends and boys and thinking her parents don't understand, I am reminded so much of my own diary entries at her age. Anne's genuine, imaginative and dreamy nature remind me of myself and my friends at her age. I think everyone can identify with something about Anne. This book has effected me greatly on an emotional level, and it makes me better appreciate the life I have in peaceful Canada. I feel proud to be a Canadian, when I think of Canada's role in the liberation of Holland in WWII. If only things had been different, Anne could've still been alive today in 2022. Today, she could have been 92 years old and had a full life of love and joy and adventure. Anne deserved to have had a long life, and I feel devastated when I think of so many things she never had a chance to do and see. May we never forget the atrocities of the Nazis, maybe we always have the bravery to stand tall in the face of hatred and evil, and may Anne and her loved ones rest in peace.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am stunned by this audiobook ?
I am happy to hear it. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I do not write reviews. But listening to that was so humbling. What a smart girl. The story of a child that just wanted to get on in life. She was so brilliant and insightful. That made her end so horribly wrong. And some piece of crap evil took her away from this planet. Wow.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It has a lot of stuff happening in the book
But it does talk a lot about girls and other stuff - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book was good it was a little hard to hear it was echoey but very good storyline captivating
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is great for the education of young and old children, I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a fun silly and smart story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am reading this diary for the first time at the age of 33 and I don't know how it wasn't part of my school literature. It gives one a completely different view of what happened in the war. Even though this family with another family were in hiding for such a long time, the human spirit still has its yearnings for laughter, love, understanding, learning and to be heard. Life still went on with it's day to day things happening. Anna grew as a person and some days one could see just how grown up she became and other days one still had the sense of how much she was still a girl. I think it is a great book for teenage girls and their mothers to read together. Will definitely be on our list of read allouds when my sweet girls is a teen
