About this audiobook
Evil has many faces…maybe even yours in this #1 New York Times bestseller from master storyteller Stephen King.
An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is discovered in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens—Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon have DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
As the investigation expands and horrifying details begin to emerge, King’s story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The audio book version is awesome. The narrator is one of a kind. One of my favorite characters he voices is Holly, the lightness and pauses in her voice sets her apart from everyone else.
As far as the story goes I loved it too! I feel as if many SK books have about half a dozen places they could be ended early and most readers would be none the wiser but this one was amazing through and through.2 people found this helpful

Great story!!!1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5If you can, listen to Will Patton narrate this audiobook, because his voices and performance were absolutely phenomenal. Love a good book with a narrative performance that allows me to immerse myself in the story. I have my qualms with King's writing (i.e. describing a woman's breasts during an action sequence) but I think this might be my favorite of his work. His other novels seem to all take a very similar tone and I find that can often become tedious and boring. This one feels fresh, bringing in characters from Finders Keepers, creating a narrative that really flows IMHO, with characters who I'm able to feel attached to and become invested in their futures. The actual horror here is not just the monster, but also the absolute destruction of these families and how they continue on.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Way too long. Listened to it at 1.8x for the latter half of the book. It was unnecessarily stretched. Typical story in which the "villain" does not do anything the "hero" and the climax sucked. Disappointed

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Started out interesting but took quite a bizarre turn. I suppose it's very King. Writing is excellent as you'd expect but the story really felt it had little point by the end.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was OK. It was weird how long it took for Holly Gibney to be introduced to the storyline, for me the book could've been shorter and less descriptive, but I guess that's just Stephen King's style. The end was exciting, though.
