About this audiobook

Sisters. They'll swipe your clothes, your boyfriends, your destiny. But it wasn't exactly Rayne's twin Sunny's fault. Magnus, a vamp hottie and coven leader, mistook Sunny for Rayne last month and bit her instead. Now they're doing the inter-species dating thing.

Turns out that for every generation, there's a Vampire Slayer-and this time around, it just happens to be Rayne MacDonald. Her first mission: infiltrate a seedy vamp bar downtown and expose its vampire owner for purposely spreading a blood disease he created himself-a task almost harder than passing trig.

After going it alone once, Rayne realizes she needs help. So Magnus sends his sexy Goth buddy Jareth to go undercover with her. And, frankly, Rayne wouldn't mind going under the covers with him. Maybe fate doesn't bite after all . . .

Author

Mari Mancusi

Mari Mancusi always wanted a dragon as a pet. Unfortunately the fire insurance premiums proved a bit too large and her house a bit too small—so she chose to write about them instead. Today she works as an award-winning young adult author and freelance television producer, for which she has won two Emmys. When not writing, Mari enjoys goth clubbing, cosplay, watching cheesy (and scary) horror movies, and her favorite guilty pleasure—videogames. A graduate of Boston University, she lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and young daughter.

If you haven't had an opportunity to read my review of Boys That Bite, please click here and go take a look. It will give you some insight into the utter fangirl that I've now become for Mari Mancusi's writing. Oh yes, I'm smitten. Or as Mari would probably say once bitten, always smitten? Something like that :).

To reiterate what I've said before, what I love about The Blood Coven books is just how much fun they are to read! Sunny and Rayne are hilariously snarky characters, and they possess the ability to ooze snarky humor while still being completely serious. The cast of additional characters that surrounds them grows a bit larger in this book, and I fell in love with each and every one of them. In fact, I do believe that I have a new crush. Dark, brooding and sexy vampire with an accent? Yes please! Where do I sign up for one of those?

In all seriousness though, the plots of these books are pure deliciousness. Sunny and Rayne's adventures are quick moving and well thought out. The pop culture references are in this book are plentiful but not obnoxious. However what I love most of all is just how well Mari Mancusi sticks to the lore of the bloodsuckers I love so very much. Taking cues from the Whedonverse and beyond, she makes her vampires come alive and I appreciate it!

This particular book is written from Rayne's point of view, and it is unique in that we read about her adventures through her blog entries. For those of you who haven't read the first book yet, yes, Rayne does blog. Her blog is hilarious too! I throughly enjoyed reading both her witty entires, as well as the comments at the end of everything chapter. The undercurrent of side stories within the comments was hilarious and well placed. Have I mentioned that I love this book?

I'm rambling now, so I'll stop. Suffice it to say that this book series has me hooked! I've already finished the third one (review to come soon) and have the rest on my wishlist at the library and on my Christmas list. This is a series that I like to call my "guilty pleasure" and I'm not ashamed to admit it. LOVE!

Once I got past the part of the book that was written like a blog I enjoyed it more. I didn't really enjoy what the author thought were probably snarky and interesting comments by the "readers" of the blog. It almost seemed like the author was trying to tell us how to feel via the comments that she had placed in the book. I don't think it was as good as the first one, but it was a quick read and I will probably read the third book.

In this installment it is Goth sister Rayne who is front and center. Her twin, Sunny is no longer a vampire but is dating the head vampire. And Rayne, well she is the slayer. Yep that is right. The twin who wants to be a vampire is now their bitter enemy. Well, at least the enemy of the "bad Vampires". Rayne and a hunky vampire join forces to find out what is happening on the dark side of town.I really enjoyed this book. It is very funny and touching at the same time. Can't wait to read the next one.
