About this audiobook

It's Elvis Week in Memphis, and homicide detective Rachel Sloan isn't sure her day could get any stranger when aging Elvis impersonator Vic Vegas asks to see her. But when he produces a photo of her murdered mother with four Elvis impersonators-one of whom had also been murdered soon after the photo was taken-she's forced to reevaluate. Is there some connection between the two unsolved cases? And could the recent break-in at Vic's home be tied to his obsession with finding his friend's killer?

When yet another person in the photo is murdered, Rachel suddenly has her hands full investigating three cases. Lieutenant Boone Callahan offers his help, but their checkered romantic past threatens to get in the way. Can they solve the cases before the murderer makes Rachel victim number four?

In author Patricia Bradley's "Justice Betrayed", a Memphis-based homicide detective's life takes an unexpected turn when two long-ago deaths are linked to her own mother's unsolved murder. Cold-case detective Rachel Sloan has long dealt with strange and unusual crime cases, and "Elvis Week" in Memphis brings an influx of visitors with their own agendas to the great city. Rachel is visited by vintage Elvis impressionist Vic Vegas, who brings her some startling information about her late mother. Complicating matters further still is the unfinished romantic relationship between Rachel and her supervisor Lt. Boone Callahan. When another person connected to her mother is also murdered, Rachel and Boone must put aside their personal tensions and work together to bring this case to a close--but will they be in time to prevent yet another death? This time, will Rachel herself be the target? "Justice Betrayed" is Book 3 in author Patricia Bradley continuing "Memphis Cold Case Series".Book Copy Gratis Revell Books via Library Thing

I have enjoyed this series set in Memphis as I can can picture many of the places that they wind up. I think it would be great to finally solve a cold case, but would hate to have the case hanging over me as it waits to be solved and would hate it even more to realize that someone was still out there and was still killing. Rachel soon finds out that there is more to her mother's death as she meets up with an Elvis impersonator. She soon finds herself looking into it again as another murder occurs and she has to work together with someone from her past before anything happens again. I received a copy from the publisher, the review is my own.

Fantastic suspense! This book not only had wonderful messages that make you think, but it had intensity and gripping plot lines. This book was a roller coaster of ups, downs, ins and outs as I turned each page with a white knuckled grip! Ms. Bradley has once again managed to create a breath quickening, heart pounding, blood boiling suspense novel and fill it with just what her fans love! Four stars, and hats off to a highly talented author!

Not being familiar with Bradley's writing, I was unsure of what to expect when I picked up this book. But given the fact that I love a good mystery as much, if not more, than the next reader, I was excited to give Justice Betrayed a read. I was not disappointed! The book starts off with a super compelling scene in the prologue which instantly grabbed my attention. And it doesn't stop. The tension and suspense mount until the climax which I thought was really great.CharactersThe characters are well-formed, for the most part. They're relatable and you get to like them. Even the villain finds a bit of a soft spot in your heart as you see what they endured as a child. Obviously, I didn't condone the actions, but I could feel a little empathy. The protagonist, Detective Rachel Sloan, is a great lead character that I really liked getting to know in these pages.RomanceAs this is marketed under the "Romantic Suspense" genre, there is a small element of a romantic interest between a couple main characters, but I didn't feel like it got in the way of the plot or story in any way. Though there were a few moments that were a tad too sappy for my personal taste, they were easy to overlook because it was never a prolonged scene; only little mentions here and there.PlotEven though I had figured out "whodunit" before the reveal, I still enjoyed they way Bradley wrote the scenes leading up to it. Rather than a letdown feeling, I instead had a feeling of satisfaction that I had "solved the case". Although there weren't lots of twists and turns and red herrings, there were lots of little clues given along the way which made this a very enjoyable mystery.Content AdvisoryThere is no strong language or sexual content at all. However, the story has scenes of domestic violence, both depicted and referenced. There are also numerous murders (kind of required for a murder mystery) including one scene which contains the actual commission of murder described rather vividly. Due to these elements, I don't recommend this for readers under 16.NOTE: This is Book 3 in the Memphis Cold Case series. I have not read the previous two volumes and I didn't come across anything that would make me think I was missing necessary information to understand what was going on in this book. I believe each book can be read independently.Disclosure: The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great book in the series. I love the suspense. I love Boone and Rachel. This story has a lot of twists and turns. I hope there are many more books in this series. I love the way Patricia Bradley puts a case together. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This is the third in Patricia Bradley’s Memphis Cold Case series. One thing I like about the series is that they are all stand-alone novels. They all have women as main characters who happen to have a knack for solving years-old murders. This novel revolves around a murder connected to an Elvis Tribute Artist competition in Memphis. Upon looking into it, Detective Rachael Sloan finds there are ties to two murders committed years earlier (one of which was her own mother) and the attempted murder of another Elvis impersonator. Rachael finds her own life in danger as she gets closer to solving the mystery. The mystery is good – the romance is light – the characters are believable. All together, a pretty good read for the summer!I won the book from LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.

I was sent this book by the publisher. My ratings and reviews will be my own personal opinions and are in no way influenced by publishers or authors who may have sent me books to review.Just Betrayed is the third book in the Memphis Cold Case series but can be read as a standalone. I love watching television shows around cold cases, so I thought that this would a fun read. I am not normally a huge fan of detective reads, but I enjoyed this one. I think I enjoyed it since the detective, Rachel Sloan, was actually a part of the action/mystery/murders. She was not just on the sidelines investigating, but was connected to everything going on as well. This started off intense, and names the killer. That prologue was really amazing! However; it did slow down a little for me. There was so much information repeated as Sloan was starting to get involved with the murders. It was a little slow moving until toward the end. I did like that even though you knew who the killer was, you really do not know until it is revealed (once you read this, this will make sense).Overall, this was pretty good.

This is the third book in this series and all can stand alone, they all deal with cold case murders. The author has given us a case with a homicide detective working active cases, she is given information that may lead to who killed her mother seventeen years ago.Wow, you will be scratching your head and wondering, and then thinking you know who committed the crimes. In the meantime, the bodies are climbing. For Detective Rachel Sloan, the case becomes personal, and her new boss Lt. Boone Callahan is there to help. We also add in a lot of Elvis’s, both past and present, and it all gets tied together. You are in for a great mystery and once you think you have solved it, be prepared to change your mind, more than once, the author keeps you on your toes.I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Revell, and was not required to give a positive review.

This book was just as good as the previous books in this series. It drew me in from the first page and I wasn’t able to put it down. This is the third book in the Memphis Cold Case series, but this isn’t a series that you absolutely have to read in order. Each book focuses on different people, but it does help to have the background on the characters because some of them do come up again. This book was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense novels. This one will not disappoint! *I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.*

This book is the third book int the Memphis Cold Case series by Patricia Bradley. Right off the bat it kept me in suspense. You know fairly early as a reader who the killer is. The murderer has killed people in the past and in the past. Rachel Sloan thinks the murder of her mother and a friend of her mother a few days later is connected. As I said you know who the murderer is but that is only one layer pealed away that is revealed. There is much more to this sociopath than meets the eye. This person is truly evil. As in any good romantic suspense there are twists in the story. I am looking forward to any future books that this author will write. Thanks to Revell and LibraryThing for providing me an ARC to read and review. The opinions are entirely my own.

Thanks to LT for a free novel. I thought it was well written and enjoyable. I kept trying to figure out who the murderer was, and was wrong every time. I look forward to reading more in this series, as well as anything else I can find by Ms. Bradley!

3.5 StarsIt has been seventeen years since teenaged Rachel Sloan found the body of her murdered mother. Now sitting across from Homicide Detective Sloan at the CJC in Memphis is Tribute Artist, Vic Vegas a old friend of her mothers. Vic needs her help, after all this time he thinks he has found the person guilty of the murder of his old friend and fellow Tribute Artist Harrison Foxx, killed just days after Rachel's mom. He also thinks the two murders could be connected. In less then 24hrs Vic Vegas is dead. Are these murders all connected? When another Tribute Artist collapses on stage at the yearly Elvis competition, it's time to kick into high gear and find answers before murder comes knocking on Rachel's front door.A little bit romance, a little mystery, a little family tension. Good Storyline with a complete finish. I did deduct 1 point for the slow build up at the start. Thanks to Author Patricia Bradley, Revell Books and LT for the chance to read this ARC Book.

Two murders, 17 years ago. It took an Elvis impersonator (excuse me- tribute artist), to discover a connection. But when he pays a visit to Detective Sloan, she all but blows him off. She has other things to worry about-talkie beating Boone at the monthly competition and having dinner with her father, The Judge. But when another murder occurs, Sloan is forced to believe that the Elvis impersonating (excuse me, tribute artist) and amateur sleuth, was on to something. By the end of the book I was holding my breath. I could not believe the ending. I never would have discovered the killer. What a shock!

As far as I know, I have not read the two previous books from this series, but since I liked this book, I will probably look for them.Rachel Sloan has kept up an unofficial investigation of her mother's murder many years before. When Elvis tribute artist Vic Vegas comes to her with information on a cold case murder that he thinks connects to her mother's death, Rachel decides to humor him just in case there really is something there. Unfortunately, Vegas is killed before he can show Rachel his files--something Rachel finds just a tad bit suspicious. And when another Elvis tribute artist has an attempt made on his life, as well as Rachel getting threats to drop the case--well, Rachel and Boone both begin to suspect there was something to Vegas's claim.I didn't guess the identity of the killer--well, I knew who it was and that he/she wasn't using his/her real name based on the prologue chapter, but I didn't guess which character it was until the author revealed it. The author did a good job of planting plenty of red herrings to keep me guessing as to which character was the killer. I found this to be a page turner after a certain point. Early on, not so much, but after a while, I found I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next--sometimes to the point of putting off things I needed to do because I was convinced the next chapter would provide some important clue and I'd figure out who they were looking for!I received a copy of this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review.
