About this audiobook

In a small town with a strange history of teen suicides, a group of five women have made a pact with a demon and must sacrifice their firstborn. To the residents of the sleepy coastal town of Terrel, the cliffs of Terrel’s Peak are a deadly place, an evil place where terrible things happen. Like a series of mysterious teen suicides over the years, all on the same date. Or other deaths, usually reported as accidents. Could it be a coincidence? Or is there more to it? Reporter Joe Kieran is determined to find the truth. Kieran’s search will lead him deep into the town’s hidden past, a past filled with secrets and horror, and to the ruins of the old lighthouse atop the tragic cliffs. He will uncover rumors and whispered legends—including the legend of the evil entity that lives and waits in the caves below Terrel’s Peak…

Just ok. Both in narration and writing. There is no real movement throughout the first 3/4 of the book. I found the ending with all the "excitement" was boring and too predictable. Other readers felt it was too graphic, I say...Eh. There was so much unrealistic dialog and no real character development. Not good horror writing or narration for true horror enthusiasts. I say don't bother.

This was a pretty good book as it revolves around a town called Terrel Point. There are some legends that need to be left buried in Terrel Point. The legend becomes unearthed when a reporter "Joe" who has come to the area starts digging around into the past and finds that there have been suicides that have taken place in the town. But that is not the only thing he digs up as there is also a demonic presence that has buried itself into Terrel Point.

The more "Joe" delves into the secrets of the town, the more he is turned away from the residents as they do not want him digging too deep as he might find something that they do not want the world to know. The book gains momentum as I became move involved in the story.

This book is not for the faint of heart as it delves deep into the core of gory, sexual violence along with some creepy, twisted horror. This is the first time I have read this author and I am looking forward to finishing the rest of this series. Four stars for this one.

If you are looking for some good old fashion Horror, you have come to the right place. John Everson's first novel is a smash hit with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Covenant is a page turn from cover to cover. There was never a dull moment and Everson does an excellent job bringing this tale to life, and does an excellent job making the reader want more. So if you are in the mood for some good horror pick this one up. It's definitely worth it.

Joe Kiernan has escaped the hectic world of Chicago journalism to write for the paper in the small, coastal town of Terrel. It does not take long before Joe is a bit bored with the humdrum stories about bake sales and library renovations, so when a teenaged boy jumps to his death from a nearby cliff, Joe is ready for a real story. But the towns folk and even his editor want to keep the death low key. Joe can not understand the towns' apparent apathy until he starts to uncover a pattern of death and horror that holds all of Terrel in it's grip.Hmmm, this is a good story but it was just a bit graphic for me. I guess that speaks well for the writer since I could practically smell the blood in some passages. So I think hard core horror readers will really love this one. And despite the fact that it is not really my cup of tea, I know that I will read the sequel, Sacrifice.
