Michael and Angela Frazier are happily married and are desperate for a baby after years of failure. One evening, Michael’s ex-wife, Erica, appears at their door unannounced. This is a big surprise since the two have not been in touch for many years. She is in a frantic state after the disappearance of her ten-year-old daughter Felicity. Erica gets Michael to help her investigate after revealing that Felicity is his child. Erica believes that Felicity’s music teacher is involved in the abduction and knows where to find her daughter. She needs Michael’s assistance for her planned interrogation. Together they seek to solve the mystery despite the efforts of detectives already working on the case. At the same time, Angela learns information about Erica that has her concerned about her husband’s safety. This is a delightfully suspenseful book with major twists and turns. David Bell owes me a night’s sleep back after making me stay up for the conclusion. I look forward to more novels from him.

I jumped into this book because the synopsis sounded so tempting. And it was. I had a problem rooting for all of the characters I wanted to root for as some of them were not necessarily on the correct side of the equation as I saw it. However, the characters are so well drawn that it is nearly impossible not to like them and/or relate to them. I was drawn in and needing to read that one more chapter that would help me in my quest to figure this all out. And , of course, I knew I would. Ha!Needless to say, I was as surprised as you will be when you read this book. And if you like a human story, with real human characters, flaws and all, you will read this book and you'll be glad you did. I have to say that I enjoyed this book by David Bell more than I did his last one, and I loved that one also! This book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher.

Another tremendous page turner by David Bell. I’ve read everything he’s written and find him to be an excellent author. This story involves a kidnapping of a 9 year old girl and many family challenges involved. I highly recommend this book.

It all starts one evening when Michael answers the door and discovers his ex-wife Erica there demanding that he help her find her missing daughter. She tells Michael that her daughter Felicity is his daughter, too, conceived as their marriage was breaking up. Michael is floored by the information. He and his wife of almost ten years, Angela, are in the process of trying to have a baby which is putting some stress on his marriage.Michael agrees to help Erica because her child is missing as much as because Felicity might be his child too. He goes off with her to talk to Felicity's music teacher who might know more. As he and Erica travel old secrets from the past begin to bubble up to the surface. There are many potential suspects in this one including Erica's former boyfriend who suspects that Felicity is actually his child. Michael hasn't had any contact with Erica since their divorce but he learns that his mother and his sister Lynn have been keeping in contact with her. Michael and his family are still dealing with the loss of his little sister Robyn since she died accidentally when he was twelve and his sister Lynn was nine. His family would like Felicity to be his child to help fill the hole Robyn's death left in the family. Meanwhile the police investigation is looking at everyone involved to try to get some clue to finding Felicity. It seems Child Protective Services had looked into a possible neglect charge against Erica and no one actually saw Felicity with her when she says Felicity disappeared. They suspect Michael and Angela too. The investigators find a nosy neighbor who says that Erica had a miscarriage at the time her marriage was breaking up and that an infant was stolen from her mother's home nearby at the same time leading one of the investigators to wonder if Felicity is that missing child. It also throws the missing baby's mother and grandmother into the mix of people on the hunt for answers. This was a busy, tense, fast-paced thriller with a plethora of suspicious characters. Fans of psychological thrillers will enjoy this story.

I received a free advance e-copy of this book from the author and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Wow! What a story. Surprise, surprise you have a daughter that no one told you about for 9 years. Told from several different points of view. Where is Felicity and whose daughter is she? Full of secrets, lies, and twists and turns. Everyone is claiming Felicity. She is missing, was she kidnapped, is she dead, did she run away? This book is well written with great character development and an amazing plot. Couldn’t put it down. There is an big surprise twist at the end. This book is well worth the read and I look forward to reading more in the future by David Bell.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This did not affect my opinion of the book or my review itself. When Michael finds out he might be the father of a missing girl, he immediately jumps into action, finding himself lost and confused on a road trip with his ex-wife. His ex-wife insists she knows who is responsible for kidnapping the little girl, but as the night progresses, Michael begins to question everything he thought he knew. This was a suspenseful read, especially with the chapters alternating between Michael's journey and what was happening with his current wife at their home. I did see the final twist coming a few chapters before it happened, but I think that was the author's intention, to drop just enough clues so the reader could have a chance to figure it out.

Goodbye reading funk. I was so deep in a funk, nothing was good, nothing kept my attention and then I picked up Somebody’s Daughter by David Bell and I devoured it. Every word, every paragraph, every page just flew out of the book and I couldn’t stop. I was invested in the twists and turns of the storyline, invested in the amazing realistic caring characters, and invested in the safety of a young girl who hadn’t been seen for hours. The suspense in Somebody’s Daughter never lets up. There are so many twists, turns, and ups and downs. With each twist in the book, I wanted to find the missing girl. I wanted to know what had happened to her yet I was thrilled that the story was continuing and that the girl hadn’t been found yet. I was so into the story I wasn’t ready for it to end. David Bell takes the reader in circles, introducing characters that all have some type of tie to Erica, the missing girl’s mother, or Felicity, the missing girl. There are times you are sure that you just met the kidnapper and then something else happens and you know that it isn’t quite right. I found it very easy to keep track of who the characters were, how they were connected to the main characters, and what they were doing to “help” find Felicity. I liked how he intertwined the characters that would never have met each other putting them in different situations where they were together and making them interact all in the name of saving a missing child. Whether this is your first David Bell book or one of many, you will not be able to put it down. Pick up your copy now.

Late one night the Frazier's have a knock at their door. The couple unassumingly thinks it must be another neighborhood kid there to sell magazines or candy, but much to Michael Frazier's surprise he opens the door to find his ex-wife, Erica, standing on his porch. Erica is in a state of frenzy, quickly blurting out that her daughter, Felicity, has gone missing and pleading with Michael to come with her on the search for Felicity. The previous couple hasn't spoken in many years, so Michael cannot fathom why Erica would come to him for help, that is until she reveals that Felicity is his daughter. Michael has no way of determining if Erica is telling the truth in that moment, but he knows he could never forgive himself for not going out to look for a missing nine-year-old girl. As the two depart, Michael leaves his wife, Angela, behind with more questions than answers. Soon after Michael and Erica depart, Angela's world gets even stranger when another knock occurs at her door. This time it is the police and they are searching for Erica. It seems before Felicity disappeared Erica was paid a visit by child protective services and like in most missing children cases, the mother is suspect number one. Over the course of this night many truths will come to light and the past will return to haunt those involved.  As the window gets smaller for finding Felicity the pressure is on. Can Michael find the child who might be his daughter or will Felicity be lost forever?David Bell creates a heart-pounding thriller in SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER through the use of a shortened timeline and quick, easy-to-read chapters that alternate viewpoints between the various parties involved in the hunt for Felicity. The reader is able to ride along with Erica and Michael, Angela, and one of the detectives overseeing the case, Griffin. Over the course of one night and in to the next morning these three parties each attempt to find Felicity by interacted with a cast of secondary characters who have played some role in Erica or Felicity's lives. These secondary characters are instrumental in slowly providing the reader bits of information that lead to the ultimate truth of what has happened to Felicity. SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER is the perfect summer thriller read, especially for those hot days soaking up the sun at the beach. This was my first book by David Bell, but I think it's safe to say more of his work will be finding it's way to my bookshelves.A special thank you to Get Red PR, Berkley Books, and David Bell for sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

A nine-year-old is missing. Did she run away or was she kidnapped. Kidnapped is the consensus. The suspect could be anyone - a single person or a team. The drama begins with the ring of the doorbell.Angela and Michael didn’t expect to see his ex-wife, Erica, on their front porch. What Erica had to tell Michael was a shock.Erica’s daughter is the nine-year-old missing, and she wanted Michael to help her. The reason she wanted Michael to help was an even bigger shock. We follow the investigation as it gets thicker by the minute and brings in a similar case that might be connected. The characters all seemed to be guilty, and they all seemed to have secrets with Angela being the only one who had no clue about anything going on. SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER is filled with Mr. Bell’s signature tension and suspense. His hints and hanging situations at the end of each chapter were strong enough to make you not want to stop reading.And....I couldn't stop reading as the characters and the search became more complex, more intriguing, and had me scratching my head.BRAVO, Mr. Bell.Another suspenseful story line with an ending to ponder and to discuss. 5/5I received an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

I have loved all of David Bell’s novels but this one just didn’t work for me. It was an okay read but not what I expect from David Bell. I was not feeling any suspense, the book seemed all over the place and the ending was so abrupt.

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for an e-ARC of Somebody's Daughter by David Bell in exchange for an honest review. A doorbell rings at 8:16 PM at the home of Michael and Angela Frazier and the lives of the Frazier family are about to be forever changed. Michael opens the front door to come face-to-face with Erica, his ex-wife from 10 years ago. She informs him that their 9-year-old daughter Felicity, whom Michael did not know existed, has been kidnapped. In less than 24 hours, the story will develop with many twists and turns. From that point on, we are also introduced to Michael's mother Gail and his sister Lynn. Add in some dedicated police detectives and the story takes off. All of the Fraziers willl have their lives turned upside-down due to lies from the past. Who kidnapped Felicity? Why was Felicity kidnapped? Will she be found alive? Who is her biological father? Each chapter tells us about a different character's journey, adding to the suspense and keeping the reader's interest. This is my first David Bell novel but it will not be my last. A great read.

Imagine finding out late one night that you have a 10 year old daughter. One you never knew you had or that was even alive. Then you find out this daughter is missing. Pretty scary and pretty effed up.During the first 30% of this book, there is a lot of background stuff going on that just wheeled me (as if the lead in blurb wasn't enough). There was a lot going on in this book and it definitely held my interest. I did not want to put this book down or even take a break. I had to know what in the heck was going on. The plot twists are crazy good. At one part in the book, the characters are in three different locations. The author writes a couple of pages about what's going on in each location and does this several times. It's like bulletin points as to what's going on and just keeps the action going. Major fuel to get my pulse racing. This was my fifth book by David Bell and I can tell you that it won't be my last. He definitely gives you a lot for your money in his books. They are definitely never boring. Thanks to Berkley Publishing Group and Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I am a fan of this author's. I enjoy reading Mr. Bell's books. Thus I was very excited to read this latest offering from Mr. Bell. The overall story is good. Not as tight a level of high intensity that I have come to expect from Mr. Bell's books but again I did enjoy this book. The characters Michael, Erica, and Angela were all personable. Although, the star for me is Angela. She felt the strongest. I kind of found it hard for me to believe that Michael didn't wise up more when facts were not adding up with Erica's story. Yet, I did like how the story did all come together in the end. Here is to the next book from Mr. Bell.

Michael's ex-wife, Erica, shows up at his porch claiming his nine year old daughter is missing. A daughter Michael never knew existed. So begins the crazy night of trying to find Felicity. The book took so many twists and turns I kept changing my mind on who was involved with the kidnapping of Felicity. At times I wondered if there even was a little girl or if it was all a ruse. Each chapter seemed to end with a little cliffhanger and I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know what was happening.Of all of David Bell's books, this is one of my favorites. It was fast paced and kept me in suspense right until the end. I couldn't put it down. I loved the story line, characters and writing style. Yes, I did hate Erica. I know I should have felt bad for her with her daughter missing, but I just couldn't. I didn't believe anything that came out of her mouth. I definitely recommend the book, especially if you are a fan of David Bell. Thanks to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group and the author, David Bell, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

This would’ve been a five star book except for some minor things that I personally find annoying. The main male character was kind of a bit too selfish and not really a likable character to me. It was almost like he was saying “what do I get out of this?” “What do I get out of this?” throughout half of the beginning of the book. The story was good and the ending was very surprising. It was pretty suspenseful at times which is getting harder and harder to find it seems.

Super fast read about a missing girl. David Bell has created a thriller that races from start to finish. When Michael is confronted by his ex-wife that her daughter is missing, he is confused. Why is she involving him in this? He has moved on and is happily married to Angela. When Erica says that Felicity is his daughter, he is shocked! 10 years old, and he knew nothing about her.
This possibility spurs Michael into action to help Erica find Felicity. What follows is a twisted tale of family, past sorrows, strange persons, and a long held secret.
I enjoyed this fast moving novel!

Awhile back I bought several David Bell novels after reading an interview with the author. I had forgotten all about them until I read Somebody's Daughter. At first, I thought it was going to be the same I have a crazy ex plot. Then it became more of a Bermuda Triangle kinda thing. This book is definitely a must read for those that love twists and turns and mind games. Bell's other novels will definitely be bumped up a few notches on my TBR list.

MY REVIEW OF “SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER” BY David Bell Berkley July 2018 Kudos to David Bell, Author of “Somebody’s Daughter”for such an intense, captivating, enthralling, riveting, suspenseful and intriguing novel. Did you ever wonder who would ring your doorbell, in the evening, especially when you are not expecting anyone? If it is David Bell, and he starts his story with this beginning you only have to imagine what he has in store for you. I love the way that David Bell provides clues, and vividly describes the characters and locations in his stories. The Genres for this story are Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, and Fiction. The author describes his colorful cast of characters as complex and complicated. There are deep dark secrets, and any one of the characters can be suspects in this mystery. There are twists and turns.Michael Frazier and his wife Angela are having a peaceful evening, until the door-bell rings. They are not expecting anyone, and of course once Michael opens the door, things are not going to be the same again. Standing in the door-way, is Michael’s ex-wife Erica.Erica shocks Michael by telling him that Felicity her daughter is missing, and the police are involved. Michael never knew that Erica had a daughter, and it seems that Erica was married to Michael at that time. Could this be Michael’s daughter as well? Erica shows a picture to Michael of Felicity, that reminds him of his deceased sister Robin.Michael feels he has to accompany Erica to get some answers to why Felicity is missing and who would take her. Angela has many reservations about this, and yet lets her husband leave with Erica. There is danger and I felt a high amount of tension, as Michael goes along on Erica’s quest. The more information, and the more characters that Michael meets, seems to put him in jeopardy. Who can be trusted? Even Michael’s family seems to be suspicious.I enjoyed this fascinating adventure and would highly recommend it to readers that enjoy a suspenseful and intriguing mystery . I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
