About this audiobook

The Triune's attention is a deadly thing to attract. The world's oldest and most powerful vampire queens devise a plan to ensure the fledgling Isador queen is eliminated before she can call enough Blood to protect her.

But Shara has already drawn formidable and famously powerful Blood to her side: Leviathan, king of the depths. Guillaume de Payne, the headless Templar knight. Wu Tien Xin, the silent invisible assassin. Nevarre, the Morrigan's own Shadow. And of course, her first two Blood, Alrik and Daire, inexperienced-but extremely powerful in their own right.

Though well fed on queen's blood and well loved, six Blood are not enough to stand against the mighty Triune. Shara needs more.

She needs more Blood. She needs allies.

What she really needs is a queen of her own.

Contains mature themes.

For a book about taking a queen, it took 3/4s of the book to get there and one sex scene that was still more focused on the guys than the females. I picked this series because it was supposed to have a female in it but what it took to get to this point was not worth getting through 2 books of poor character development, painfully slow plot progression, unnecessary period references and thats just the short list. So many missed opportunities with this series. One of my major pet peeves was Leviathan would never speak like that...being locked up for centuries with no interactions...really I just can't finish this series.

Okay, maybe I should have called it a day at book two. I really didn't get any further with understanding what the hell was going on from listening to filler pages of battles against ants and multiple sex scenes. There was very minimal plot and character development, unfortunately. A fantasy book needs this when there are this many characters involved instead of just introducing new men every time and the same outcome happening. I will definitely not be carrying on with the series, which is a shame as book one had so much potential for a great series.

Erotic romance with an external plot. The sex/attaining new partners is the plot of individual books, but there's an interesting overarching plot that's developing.
