About this audiobook

Judith Gladstone came to San Francisco after her parents died to find her last living relative, an aunt she has never met. Instead she has fallen head over heels in love with Caleb Coulter, her friend's brother. Caleb has promised to help Judith find her aunt, but she can tell he thinks of her only as a friend, and she struggles to hide her feelings. When Caleb traces Judith's aunt to the wealthy Whitley family, Judith is reunited with her long-lost relatives. The truths she learns about her past and her parents are shocking and overwhelming, however, and the more she gets to know her new family, the more danger she uncovers. Someone does not want Judith in the picture, and they will do whatever it takes to get rid of her.

This was a very interesting series by Tracy Peterson About three young women who set off to San Francisco. One is in search of her long-lost brother, Another is in search of love, while the third is running away from love. Will each of these ladies find what they are looking for or find more than they are looking for? A good series set in turn of the century California with a backdrop of the great San Francisco earthquake and its devastation.

"In Dreams Forgotten" is the second book in Tracie's Golden Gate Secrets. Fans of Christian historical romance will not be disappointed with this authors book. Tracie has a gift for incredible storytelling. This is a stand alone book, as are all of Tracie's books. But I was glad that I had read In Places Hidden first. It introduced me to these characters and gave me some background information, I found helpful. The story-line is mainly about Judith Gladstone and Caleb Coulter. We have all of the previous characters, plus a few new ones, who you will either love or love to hate. What an ability Tracie is gifted with, to make a setting come to life.Judith finds herself part of one of the wealthiest families in San Francisco. Here is the description of the mansion seen by Caleb for the first time."Caleb parked his car and took a moment to marvel at the gleaming limestone masonry. The Beaux-Arts home sported eight white marble columns with Corinthian capitals on the main part of the two-story, hip-roofed house. The grand entryway was arched with an intricately detailed canopy molding. The two sets of floor-to-ceiling windows that graced either side of the entry were also trimmed in elaborately carved shields and swags. To each side of those, the east and west wings of the house jutted out." It is almost as if you are standing next to Caleb observing the mansion too.The Golden Gate Secrets series takes place in early 1900. The great earth quack and fires of San Francisco are written into her story. She makes you experience what many must have gone through during this catastrophe. One of my favorite lines to the story ..."Things happen to change how we feel about people. Love is not a guaranteed emotion. The love shared between a man and woman requires constant work--nurturing. If not, it dies."What a true statement. I totally enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone loving Christian Historical Fiction.

Title: In Dreams Forgotten (Golden Gate Secrets #2)Author: Tracie PetersonPages: 336Year: 2018Publisher: BethanyHouseMy rating is 4 out of 5 stars. In this second book of the series, Judith Gladstone and Caleb Coulter take center stage. They were both in book one of the series, In Place Hidden, but weren’t the romantic focus. Now, the story picks up where book one left off. Judith has been patiently waiting for Caleb to help her search for her aunt. He has recently returned from being kidnapped, so she has given him time to settle back in to his routine. Now, he has joined a group of businessmen and local community leaders to take on the corrupt practices and methods of the leader of a criminal ring that operates in a large part of San Francisco. Judith feels forgotten in her search for her aunt. All she has ever wanted was a large family, and now since her parents have recently died, she longs for a family even more. She also longs for Caleb to return her feelings of love.Caleb has it brought to his attention that he has failed in his promise to Judith to help her search for her aunt. He makes some inquiries and discovers someone with the same name, but he isn’t certain if this is Judith’s aunt. He meets a family member of the aunt to find out what he can. Judith meanwhile is waiting on pins and needles. Is her dream finally going to come true? Will she finally have the big family she has always wanted? Caleb realizes he has feelings of a romantic nature toward Judith but isn’t sure she feels the same. He is also beginning to wonder if there isn’t more to Judith’s past that he initially thought. Perhaps something that someone is willing to kill for.Judith has been my favorite character thus far in the series. She has a heart of compassion, puts others needs before her own, and is a new believer in God. She is such a sweet woman that I couldn’t help but like her! She wants to be part of a family, then she realizes family can mean people other than those related by blood. I also liked the interaction between Micah and Kenzie with the sparks flying! I can’t wait to read Kenzie’s story in book three of the series, In Times Gone By.

This is the second book in the series. This book focuses mainly on Judith. Judith is looking for her aunt but finds something quite unexpected. The copy I read was an advanced reader copy. The editing was well done with a few errors that will probably be corrected in the completed version. This review is done on my own, no strings attached. The story flowed well, it gave a glimpse of San Francisco in that time period but mainly focused on Judith and her friends. The characters were quite well developed and gave life to the book. The book is in the Christian fiction category but is not preachy at all. I enjoy reading Tracie Peterson books and this one did not disappoint. If you like historical fiction, you will enjoy this book.
