- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a book club book, and I was worried that it would be a heart wrenching story, and I would be a sobbing mess, but this was not the case, which was a pleasant surprise. This is a sweet, heartfelt, romantic story. The story was engrossing and I finished the audio version in just a few days.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kindness and care are so rare. They are in this book. Little kids in need, desperate Moms abound. There are kind, brave men here, too. And journalists, the rugged wordsmiths of those days when they were brave and searched out the truth despite any peril to their lives. Great book.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I think this book could have been cut way down with still the same effect. It didn't get really good until about the last third of the book, but it was still a good story & worth the read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved this book. The setting in the 1920's is perfect and the story is both heart touching and positive. Brings the listener back to a simpler time.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An intriguing story from the Depression of the sale of two children ostensibly because of the financial despair of the parents. There are twists, though, especially one involving a less than ethical stunt by a daily newspaper reporter. His well intentioned scheme throws the entire story into a tailspin and makes for a pretty good mystery. One criticism of the book is the somewhat sloppy editing. I found at least three places where typos weren’t corrected, something almost unheard of in today’s world of professional publishing. This is most often seen in self-published books, which I don’t think this book is. Overall, a satisfying read.
