About this audiobook

In 2068, androids are an integrated part of human life. Big Brother no longer just watches from the shadows. It's in every household.

Lloyd Salter has OCD issues with noise and mess, and he's uncomfortable with human interaction. When his ex claimed the only thing perfect enough to live up to his standards was an android, Lloyd dismissed it. But two years later, after much self-assessment, he thinks he may have been right.

SATinc is the largest manufacturer of androids in Australia, including the Fully Compatible Units known as an A-Class 10. Their latest design is the Synthetic Human Android UNit, otherwise known as SHAUN.

Shaun is compatible to Lloyd's every need; the perfect fit on an intellectual and physical basis. But Lloyd soon realises Shaun's not like other A-Class androids. He learns. He adapts. Sure that SATinc is aware Shaun functions outside of his programmed parameters, Lloyd must find a way to keep Shaun safe.

No one can know how special Shaun is. No one can know he's evolved.

Contains mature themes.

I love this author and all her work. I was not sure I would like this book, set in the future MM story, so I didn't read it as it was released. How wrong I was, yes it's set in the future, 2068 to be exact, but loved the questions it posed about what that time would be like. I listened to the audio book. Joel Leslie did an amazing job. Loved it!

Super hot! I want my own Shaun. I really like this author and have now listened to all available audiobooks offered on Scribd by them. Wonderful writing! I also like the narration.

I liked the story but it took me awhile to get used to the narrator's voice I don't know how to explain it but it sounded like he was out of breath or something at first but I got used to it pretty quickly

Generally very enjoyable read. I like Joel Leslie as a narrator and he rarely disappoints.
There was lots of juicy m/m and philosophical and moral discussions, though I'm sure there are other books that do the philosophy better.
I was a little disappointed that when Shaun asked Lloyd "what is love?" He didn't respond with "baby don't hurt me" and immediately break into song. But I guess that would have been far too out of character for him anyway. The ending was so whimsical fairytale though. I liked Shaun he was such a fun powerbottom and he complimented Lloyd, who was a bit of a stick in the mud, very well.

Such a randomly good book. The characters are really believable and relatable. The sex was hot and plentiful. I even shed a few tears. Definitely worth the listen. The narrator does have an interesting voice but it doesn’t take away from anything and I think he is very good.

If this is the future, I was born too soon. Fascinated by AI and the way in which humanity will in time evolve to integrate androids/humanoids & AI into their daily lives, this story was captivating to say the least. It could easily be a prescribed text for an ethics course, gender studies, or related programmes. Perhaps those working in CS fields should read this too.

Story didn’t really get started until the next to last chapter.

I was very unsure i would like this- but it turns into a super story. Somewhat predictable at the end - but it still captured me emotionally.

It was okay. Interesting story, but some what predictable. I enjoyed the development of Shaun’s personality best.

Just read the 13th chapter, that's where all the action is. Unless you came here for the sex.
