About this audiobook
During the Civil War, boys had to be eighteen to fight for either side. Younger boys enlisted as musicians who played the drum. Drummer boys had to learn to play a steady beat for marching and special beats to play during battles. Drums were used to tell the men to wake up, go to breakfast, and start working. Drummer boys worked long days, carried heavy packs, walked for miles, and slept on the ground.
