About this audiobook
U.S. Deputy Marshal Will Tanner earned his badge the old-fashioned way. He shot the bad guys, saved the good guys, and won the fear and respect of everyone in between. That's how legends are born. But when he visits a friend at his ranch and ends up confronting a trigger-happy horse thief, Will earns the wrath of the deadliest, lowlife killers west of the Mississippi. This is how legends die . . .
Turns out Will Tanner is nothing but a moving target on a blood-soaked trail of revenge. From a barroom shootout in Texas, to a Chickasaw showdown in Oklahoma, to a dangerous encounter with a hellion named Hannah, Deputy Marshal Tanner has his hands full, his finger on the trigger-and his life on the line . . .

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Title: Powder Burn (Will Tanner U. S. Marshal Western #3)Author: William W. Johnstone with J. A. Johnstone Pages: 336Year: 2017Publisher: PinnacleMy rating: 5 out of 5 stars. Will Tanner is an unassuming and quiet law officer who prefers to work alone even though at times he sure could use help. Will wants to get to know his boardinghouse owner’s daughter, Sophie, but she is off limits as she is to be married soon. So, Will takes on an assignment, packs up his traps and rides off to bring in his prisoner. Sounds easy doesn’t it? But it never seems to be that way for Will. Will begins to track his man and before long he is fighting because the law breaker refuses to come along quietly. Will believes he is after a horse thief, but the man has more strikes against him. Will just doesn’t know it yet. Readers will find it interesting that this becomes a major deal later on in the story. Will goes out again and treats his prisoners humanely but that doesn’t make them not try to escape. Perley Gates is in this story, which adds a colorful character to the tale. For readers who aren’t familiar with Perley, I will share that he is a man who lives off the land and tries to stay out of harm’s way. Perley comes into other series in the Johnstone world that sheds some light on his past. In this third installment in the Will Tanner series, we read how Will is learning to be a law officer, watching his trail better, and maybe a little romance. Will Tanner knows the dangers he faces and the rough way of life he has chosen but believes it fits him better than ranching. He is still part-owner of a ranch that goes by the name of J-bar-J which plays a role in this book. Will rides after the Cheney family who is involved in rustling and more, the Scorpion Jack Lynch gang. These deadly folks are about to meet their match when they face Will Tanner U. S. Marshal! The other books in the series are Will Tanner: U. S. Marshal and A Stranger in Town. Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
