About this audiobook
Everyone's invited...everyone's a suspect...
For fans of Ruth Ware and Tana French, a shivery, atmospheric, page-turning novel of psychological suspense in the tradition of Agatha Christie, in which a group of old college friends are snowed in at a hunting lodge . . . and murder and mayhem ensue.
All of them are friends. One of them is a killer.
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of thirtysomething friends from Oxford meet to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students ten years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands—the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves.
They arrive on December 30th, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world.
Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.
The trip began innocently enough: admiring the stunning if foreboding scenery, champagne in front of a crackling fire, and reminiscences about the past. But after a decade, the weight of secret resentments has grown too heavy for the group’s tenuous nostalgia to bear. Amid the boisterous revelry of New Year’s Eve, the cord holding them together snaps.
Now one of them is dead . . . and another of them did it.
Keep your friends close, the old adage goes. But just how close is too close?

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Listened for an hour but was too confused as to which voice was which character so I stopped in frustration. Possibly the book would be easier because you can refer back to get answers.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It started off really slow & somewhat boring. I did not care for the characters & some of them seemed annoying. However, it started to get interesting towards the middle of the story. Needless to say, The Guest List was better.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I'm not quite sure why I enjoyed The Hunting Party, but I did. I was looking for a light, festive-themed murder mystery, and this book definitely fits the bill. The story centres on a group of thirtysomething college friends who are celebrating New Year in a remote Scottish hunting lodge. It is told largely in flashback, using four first-person narratives and one third-person perspective. Sadly, the delineation of character lets the book down; some characters are flat and play no real part in the story; the men are particularly two-dimensional. The 'shared narration' conceit is less effective than it could have been because the narrators are so similar and their tones of voice so uniform. It is also unclear why and how these narratives emerged. The plot features the usual dodges and misdirections, but its pacing is perfectly judged. Despite its flaws it is well worth reading – especially in winter.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow ! Suspense on suspense . However wrote the review referencing an Agatha Christie novel, you hit the nail on the head. Lots of twists and very well written. I both sympathized and detested the characters. Well done.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5funny short story ... (I'd recommend younger adults) thanks lucy!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This reminded me of Foley's other book, The Guest List, and of Ruth Ware's One by One. I thought there were a lot of overlaps between the plot of The Hunting Party and One by One-- to the degree that I looked around to see if there was a court case open regarding it. Nope. Perhaps Ware and Foley attended a workshop or group together and had a similar writing prompt.
Regardless of the similarities, this was a fun who-dun-it with a classic feel to both the plot and the characters. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A group of college friends that are now in their thirties decide to celebrate the New Year’s in an exclusive distant cabin in the UK. A blizzard hits and a person in the group goes missing and the caregivers must decide who could have done it.
If you enjoy locked room Murder mysteries especially with a group of friends, this is a book for you. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A page turner but I don’t need to read anymore from this author. She writes with a formula which is enjoyable but I’ll gain nothing new from reading more if her
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Lots to like, but quite predictable. You can very much see who the killer is early on, you just don’t know why until toward the end. A few weird turns that didn’t really contribute to the plot. Well written and very well voiced
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A group of Oxford friends always meets up to spend New Years Eve together, and this year, they've booked a picturesque lodge in the Scottish highlands. At the lodge, there's a heavy snowstorm and almost no phone signal, and the isolation brings out buried secrets, evolving tensions and resentments, and murder.https://buyozempiconlinesouthafrica.com/

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Not quite as good as The Guest List, but still fun.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Some good twists and turns in the plot, but I kept getting confused about who is who and in which relationship. This is my third Lucy Foley audiobook and the one I liked least. The Paris Appartement is my favorite so far.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5from the premise i thought i was gonna like it but nope, it was hard to listen to. not a single likeable character, boring and predictable plot with a terrible ending

All the characters were vile. So depressing. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoy all the characters and twists. I will continue with this author. The narrators are also excellent. The story comes alive.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good book. Complicated but not overwhelmingly which was perfect for me
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/53.5 ⭐️ the plot was interesting. But i had a hard time connecting to the characters. I also had trouble with telling the ladies apart in the beginning ?
I did love the ending and how all the loose ends tied together. I also didn’t guess the twists. So bravo on that ??? - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very fun! Near the end it spins a bit out of control but still fun!
