About this audiobook

Shea Ellis doesn't have time for love-all the Boston Brawlers captain wants is one last shot at the Cup before he retires. Besides, after his ex-wife did him dirty, the single dad isn't sure if he could love again. Hell, he'd be happy just to find a decent nanny to help with his three kids.

Sure, the latest nanny to get a try-out, Brynn, is a babe. But the hottest thing about the bright-eyed twenty-something isn't her sizzling figure-it's how fast his kids fall for her.

For a grizzled veteran, it's a pointless crush on a girl he knows he shouldn't have. And with the Brawlers marching towards the playoffs, the last thing he needs is a distraction. So why can't he get the cutie out of his mind?

Can the hockey legend keep his eyes on the ice . . . and his hands off the nanny?

Brynn Conley never expected to nanny for her childhood crush. The pretty-boy rookie whose poster she painted with lipstick kisses all those years ago? He's a rugged man now. A salt-and-pepper single dad struggling with a troubled teen daughter and two wild twin boys.

The hockey star has aged like fine wine, but Brynn's not looking for love-she's got a job to do. And to Shea's delight, she's great with kids. It's a cruel irony for a young woman who can't have any children of her own.

Brynn knows she shouldn't hook up with the athlete-the last thing she'd ever want to do is confuse the kids. But when her hunky boss wraps his big hockey hands around her waist, will she insist that their relationship remain professional? Or will it be the start of an ice-melting romance?

Contains mature themes.

I picked this up on a whim to listen to in the background and I enjoyed it. It follows Shae who is a single dad but a hockey captain for the Brooklyn Brawlers, he is 37 with three kids. Then we have Brynn who is 27 and loves being a nanny and has dreams to potentially have kids one’s day.

This was a quick easy audiobook to listen to. I liked Shae and Brynn together. I also loved how his kids warmed up to Brynn, especially his daughter as she doesn’t have the greatest outlet in a mother. Brynn bought them together more as a family and just made my heart melt.

Their connection didn’t come across as soul mate energy for me and also the in-between where they decided it wasn’t a good idea to keep going or continue relations was too long for me wish there were more spicy scenes because that man could work!

Saved the best for last that's for sure. Both Shea and Brynn are great characters and his kids were brilliant. The story itself was very relatable, especially Chloe's problems with the divorce and her mom's behaviour, have no doubt other listeners would agree. Also at last other characters from previous books stopped being idiots (or at least were not portrayed as such). Also the book was written in first person which was great, the previous book was very strange to listen because of the way it was told. Narrators were awesome and were a pleasure to listen to. Though really liked this book this author is definitely not a favorite of mine.

Sutton's background as a screenwriter is on show here. This book is pretty much nonstop action from beginning to end, although the characterizations are quite interesting. I listened to the audiobook, which was 4 1/2 hours, a pretty perfect length. I enjoyed it, but there is really no meaning here beneath the surface. Most of the book is entertaining, but the inevitable plot-by-numbers series of events near the end--i.e., hero (Crush) falls into the clutches of the bad guy--were more than a little stale. The hero's entrance into the bad guy's lair is a classic, though. I won't spoil that for you. And Crush's homebound sidekick Zerbe is an excellent character, as is Gail, who doesn't deserve the treatment she receives here. Perhaps in a later book in the series, we'll get to see what she is really capable of. Bottom line: Entertaining, decent value for the time spent, but no classic. The audiobook narration was quite good, however. Although I wasn't too sure about the narrator for the first few minutes, he won me over pretty quickly, and after that I was just immersed in the story.

"Crush" by Phoeff Sutton reads like a comic book and and a treatment for what might be the next Ray Donovan played by Vin Diesel, LL Cool J. or some other manly bald guy. It is totally a dude book for dudes who don't prefer the art of writing. It is fast-paced with short chapters, a gun catalog of inventory, one blow job and women who show their tits. There is barely any depth, nuance or mystery. Just action, action, action. The rich are drawn in pathetic caricatures and off beats are the heros (very LA). The resolution requires no work whatsoever. Will probably leave this on the shelf titled, "Books to Read During Undergraduate Finals" which require no attention, investment or long term memory.
