About this audiobook

Jacob Alexander has spent more than a decade perfecting his off-the-grid lifestyle in remote northwestern Wisconsin. But nothing prepares him for the Sovereign Resistance, a white nationalist paramilitary group. The Resistance's activities include kidnapping, torture and murder. And Jacob's about to battle them face to face to rescue their victims. Jacob knows the terrain. The Resistance doesn't. But he's outgunned and outmanned. And his deer rifle might not be enough to make it out of this standoff alive.

The Cabin: an Off the Grid suspsense thriller by John KoloenBook starts out with Jacob and he's just gotten married, to the most gorgeous woman ever. He soon realizes that she's just out for his money as she's caught cheating on him. He's tired of being the guy to give her everything and walks out into the WI wilderness and soon finds a place where he can call home. Love what he does to survive-watching others cabins for money while they're not there and what's in his cabin.Story also follows a group of men who are religious based but also milita patriots who are out to make a name for themselves. One leaves and they realize he knows much about their organization and they have to get him back-at least his phone. They track him down to a small town and drive him and an kidnapped FBI agent to a cluster of cabins....Love hearing all their thoughts from beginning to end and the outcome. Very brutal at times but very herioc as well. Was a good break from the romance books I read.Excerpt from another of the author's works is included at the end. Author bio also.

Four paramilitary soldiers are directed by their leaders to leave Detroit and travel to Wisconsin in search of a former member who had left the fold and was now leaking information about the group to the authorities. Their orders were clear - kill him when he was located. It didn't take long, but they didn't count on him being accompanied by an FBI agent. Both men were driven out to the mountains by the soldiers where they found a secluded group of cabins. The snitch was killed and the agent badly beaten and left near death when the group left for a nearby town for the night. They'd deal with the agent and dispose of the bodies tomorrow.Jacob Alexander, a computer geek, caught his wife having sex with his brother and decided to put it all behind him. He took his savings and headed for the hills, building a small cabin where he became a hermit. He shared a small lake with four other cabins on the far side and agreed to watch over them for the owners during the winter months. When making one of his checks, he wasn't counting on finding two bodies in the farthest cabin. He didn't have an internet or cell phone coverage so there was no way to contact the police. It was his job now to protect the innocent and resolve this problem. When they face off in the morning, the tension builds and keeps readers on the edge of their seats until the end. That is where I was quickly disappointed as the story abruptly ended. One reviewer mentioned that it was like a final chapter was missing and no follow-up on the characters. The author doesn't say that the story would be continued in another installment. Too much was left open ended. The story is short and can be read in an afternoon. I was very close to rating this three stars...hopefully the author takes this information and does a rewrite.
