About this audiobook
A nerdy high school senior transforms into a vampire vixen who's unaware that her hunky date for prom is the slayer sent to destroy her.
Morgan Taylor-Jackson can't wait for high school to end. In six months she leaves for UCLA and says goodbye to La Jolla, California and her parents' messy divorce. But when Morgan is bitten by a four-year-old boy, she becomes infected with a mysterious condition. Fever, insomnia, and a new bustline are only the beginning; Morgan morphs from nerd to bombshell.
As far as Van Xander is concerned, all vampires are evil, even the ones who reject human sacrifice and call themselves Puritans. When Helsing Incorporated sends Van to La Jolla to investigate the local coven, Morgan is his prime target. Pretending to be interested in her, Van asks Morgan out and puts her through a series of tests to determine her killer nature.
Morgan is thrilled to be dating a hot guy like Van and falls for him hard. As Van strings Morgan along, he grows increasingly guilty. Morgan is kind, compassionate, and a gooey romantic. Just as Van's mind begins to change, evil forces threaten everything. When prom night arrives, there are only two ways out of the ballroom: death or immortality.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Totally over the top slapstick. But I kept reading it for some inexplicable reason. SO I had to give it 4 stars....
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I haven't read all of this series, choosing to read whatever happens to be on sale at the time. That said, there are a lot of previous characters in this book. A lot. It wasn't easy to keep them all in my head. I'm not sure if reading all of the books would have helped or not.
I liked it best when the story focused on Livy and Vic.
I'm guessing the next match up will be Shem and Melly. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One word......brilliant!!!! Laurenston does a fabulous job with this book. Love the new characters & the old!!! I am a badger & hybrid fan! Excellent read with a great story line and sex scenes!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this paranormal story with funny characters that beat on each other all the time but it took awhile for the plot to get going while they established how everyone was really mean and/or ferocious and still the main characters were lovable. Shortly after her fathers funeral, honey badger Livy is discovered in bear-tiger Vic's cabinet.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Livy Kowalski is something of a misfit in her family of honey badger thieves and criminals. She is a professional photographer who has temporarily lost her creativity. When she comes back home from her father's funeral, she finds that her mother has invited a cousin Livy really hates to move in to her apartment.Livy flees to Vic Barinov's house because she really likes his honey supply. Vic is a hybrid combination of bear and Siberian tiger. While he doesn't like many people, he does like Livy. When Livy learns that her father actually was hunted by unscrupulous hunters who delight in hunting shifters, she is determined to find the people responsible and have her revenge. Vic is also looking for the people responsible for hunting shifters. They team up to find those responsible. What I like most about this series is the wide variety of shifters and hybrids. I love that they really have the attributes of their animal selves. I also like meeting characters from earlier books in this series again in each new volume. Besides the plot about bringing the hunters to justice, Livy has been hired - for an outrageous sum - to be the photographer at Blayne and Bo Navikov's wedding. We also get to see a variety of other favorite characters including Dee-Ann Smith and, briefly, Eggie Smith. This is a fun paranormal series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was a little different from the previous stories by this author. While there were some amusing parts there weren't as many truly funny places that made me laugh out right. This is still a really good story and it ties up the Frankie Whitlan arc. It also brings in the potential for a new villain. The story is about Victor “Vic” Barinov and Olivia “Livy” Kowalski. Vic is a tiger/grizzly hybrid and Livy is a honey badger shifter. You wouldn't think that these two would get along but they turn out to be perfect for each other. I think a lot of us will identify with Livy and her need to distance herself from her family. Livy is very different from the rest of her clans. She is a photographer. She has an artist’s eye and doesn't really care about stealing other people blind. Livy is tough and a fighter when corner. She is anti-social and has a weird sense of humor. She doesn't want many friends and is terribly loyal to the few she has. The Jean-Louis Parker family has adopted her and Livy takes care of them as well.Vic is usually a laid back easy going guy. He worked for the CIA and was a Marine. He currently finds those individuals that are lost or hiding. He is much happier since he left working for the government. Vic is happy with his life and he loves his family even when they are driving him crazy. I think falling in love with Livy snuck up on him. He wasn't looking for a mate and while he enjoyed Livy’s company he didn't think that she would stay around. He should have known something was going on after finding her sleeping in his kitchen cabinets more than once that she felt safe and secure around him. One more thing Vic is a crazy man in bed. His feline takes control and all bets are off. Livy thrives on Vic feline self. This story also has the Bo and Blaine and Gwen and Lock’s weddings. There are some very amusing parts about these four trying to planning a wedding. We get to meet a lot of Livy’s family and I can’t blame her for not wanting to be around that group of crazy. There are a number of new characters that are introduced in this story so I hope that means that there will be more books. I love this series and I look forward to each new book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/54.5*Book source ~ A review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.Livy Kowalski is a honey badger shifter. There’s not much that can kill her and there’s nothing she fears. Except losing her photography mojo and that’s what seems to be happening to her. And it’s making her cranky. No one wants a honey badger to be cranky, but when her father’s death raises questions and demands revenge, Livy is going to get the job done. Even if Vic Barinov insists on checking in with her, worrying about her and falling in love with her. Love. Livy may have found one more thing that she fears. But Vic, the grizzly bear/Siberian tiger hybrid, has no intention of letting her go, so she best get used to the idea. Another great addition to the Pride series. Livy is a scary heroine and though she’s physically pretty much indestructible, she’s vulnerable when it comes to Vic. Speaking of Vic, he’s a great character! He identifies mostly with his bear side so he has a lot of patience, he loves honey and he’d do anything to protect Livy though she doesn’t really need protecting. It’s the thought that counts though, right? And his hybrid form? Oh Em Gee! LOL There are many familiar and favorite characters in this installment and the underlying storyline about who killed Livy’s dad was a good one. While I enjoyed the book very much I felt the romance between Livy and Vic was a bit sparse. Though they are very different from your normal everyday run-of-the-mill two-people-falling-in-love characters, so the offbeat way the relationship proceeded was most likely the best way to go about it. And let’s not forget the humor. How I love the humor in this series! The Pride books are on my Go To List for laughs and shenanigans. I am curious as to how much farther this series will go, but however long that is, I’ll always be ready for another chortle-fest.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I'm not sure why I keep reading these books in this series. At first I found them pretty amusing, but now I'm finding them on the ridiculous side. They pretty much follow the same plot in every book...fighting, sex, fighting, make-up sex, etc etc. I keep saying I'm going to quit reading them then I find myself reading the next one. I like some of the characters (Lock, Dez the Smith men) and hate a few (Blyane, well she's the only one I actually hate). These are definitely books for people who don't take their books too seriously and like some laughs along with their hot shifter sex. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Bite Me (Pride, #9) by Shelly LaurenstonLivy Kowalski is a honey badger shifter that comes from a family of felons. Vic Barinov is a bear-tiger shifter hybrid whose parents help put many of Liz’s family behind bars. The unlikely couple work together to bring the man who killed Livy’s father to justice – the shifter way. I love Shelly Laurenston. Every time I read her work, I laugh so hard I cry. Seriously, how does she come up with this stuff? Maybe it’s because I’m an animal lover, but I adore all the quirks the different shape shifters have and how they related to the actual animal groups. One evening I was reading the scene where Livy was jousting. I was laughing so hard I was afraid I was going to wake my family up. Vic is one of the few people that gets Livy, especially her humor, which I love. Livy like other honey badgers is just mean. The two together are great, complementing each other well.I love that Laurenston continues to use characters from the previous books, and I enjoy all their goofy conversations. I don’t think I will ever get enough of Dee-Ann Smith’s wolf and Cella Malone’s tiger antics. Plus, the books would not be the same without Blayne, she just so, well, Blayne. Then there are the male lions and their hair. The list goes on. I’m so glad I discovered Shelly Laurenston years ago. She is one of those authors whose books I reread. If you have never read her work, you have got to do so. Especially if you enjoy laughing. Complimentary copy provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
