About this audiobook
Monsters, Paramedics, and Street Medicine.
New paramedic Dean Flynn is fresh out of the academy. When he gets assigned to the unknown backwater ambulance Station U, he wonders what he did wrong. Then Dean learns that his patients aren't your normal 911 callers.
Dean and his partner Brynne Garvey serve the creatures of myth and legend living alongside their normal human neighbors in Elk City. With patients that are vampires, werewolves, fairies and more, will Dean survive his first days on the new job? Will his patients?
Not all is well on the streets of Elk City either, and some humans are striking out at their mythical neighbors. Dean soon finds himself in the middle of a series of attacks on his patients, attacks that implicate a former member of Station U.
Come along on this ride with "Extreme Medical Services" - part one of the series by the same name, a paranormal medical thrill-ride with the paramedics of Elk City. Described by one fan as "like Grimm, but with paramedics" this book is brought to you by best-selling author and real-life paramedic Jamie Davis. He crafts a book called an accurate, interesting, & fabulous page-turner.
Jump on the ambulance with Dean, Brynne and the rest of the team.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5What a missed opportunity. This could have been great. Im a medical professional and technically its well written from the paramedic point of view but most lay people just won't get it. There's no character development. I could care less about the people in the story. Better luck next time

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was pretty good. And I've got no medical knowledge other than being a Greys Anatomy fan. So I really enjoyed hearing about the monsters in their predicaments.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I went back and forth on what to rate this book. I listened to the audio and some of my issues were related to the narrators incorrect pronunciation of medical terms, medicines, etc. the majority of my issues with the book were the the authors fault. There was a strong need for a good editor to cut unnecessary wordage. Seriously, the author would ramble on explaining things to death. First he’d say that he needed to place an iv, then he’d explain what he was doing, then he’ think about placing the iv, then he’d say out loud what he was doing. All in one scene. Then a bit later he’d do it all over again. Every time! Was it necessary to explain the gauge of an iv in so much detail? Not just once but multiple times! As an R.N. Who has worked in the ED I know what the items used where, I’m sure the idea was to explain to the non medical field readers what was going on, in fact I asked my son, who has pretty much the same taste in books to listen along for a chapter and he got frustrated as well. His response was “why doesn’t he just say they got an iv in the guy and go on with the story?” My other issue is that this book goes nowhere. It is 22 chapters of world building with 2 chapters of getting to the point of the story, and then it just ends. The characters were interesting, except when they contradicted themselves. The idea behind the story was promising but it was a definite “failure to launch” for me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. Very entertaining and a fun listen. Can’t wait for the next one.
