About this audiobook

Christian, quiet and dedicated to learning, is focused on putting a rambunctious school into order. He's also determined to check off another task on his list: finding a wife. When he suffers an accident that puts him out of commission for a few weeks, Ruby steps in. Her teaching style and personality clash with his, and he wonders if all his hard work will be undone.

Ruby thinks Christian is stuffy and decides to inject some fun into teaching the students. However, Christian can't keep his nose out of her business‚ both personal and professional. Relieved to be free of his overbearing hovering when her tenure ends, she's shocked when he makes her an unexpected offer, one that would solve several of her problems.

Christian has always felt the call to be a school teacher, even though his father looks on teaching as a woman’s job. But Christian is quite good at teaching, and his students are fond of him. When a freak accident forces him to stay off his feet for a while, his friend Ruby subs for him. Ruby was at loose ends, not knowing what to do with her life, but she soon discovers she loves teaching. And the scholars love her. They have a great time, until the second day when she tells the children they could bring their pets to school the next day. And then, it’s chaos. This is a delightful and well written tale, with a little bit of humor, some romance, a few problems to solve, and an unforeseen accident. The characters come alive on the page, and readers certainly will be eager to see how the story unfolds.

The author has us back in Birch Creek, and with some old friends, she has also given us a male, Christian Ropp, teacher, and although he seems to be a bit antisocial, he is looking for a wife. Then we are presented with a young woman who is looking for a husband, Ruby Glick, she has left her home in Lancaster with the hopes of new beginnings. You will chuckle as some of her happenings, some are serious and others are just unhandy, but she is a bit of a klutz! There is a very serious topic that does come up in this story, and it is in every culture and we see that there is help out there. You will be wondering if these two unlikely young people will make a match, or will they each end up with the people they seem to desire.I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.
