About this audiobook

A curse. A hidden identity. A dangerous love.

Ten-year-old Persinette Basile was forced to flee the palace of Gaule for her life. Now at eighteen, she must find a way to return in order to obey a curse on her family line.

The prince won't know who she is. Not anymore. But she knows him and what he will do if he discovers her true name.

Made to fight for her life to earn her place, she vows to find a way to break the curse no matter the cost.

To. The. Death.

The words describing the tournament turn Prince Alexandre Durand's blood to ice.

The last warrior standing will win a spot at his side.

As he's thrust onto the throne, forbidden magic, dangerous betrayals, and a complicated love could tear his reign apart.

When the secrets begin to unravel, will Alex stay true to the laws and traditions of Gaule or will he give it all up for a woman who deceived him?

I am ashamed that I listened to this book with my impressionable young daughter. There should be warnings on books that there will be descriptive bloodshed and passionate love scenes. It was in the youth section but it is not appropriate for youth.

I am so in love with this retelling of Rapunzel! The magic, action and romance with a touch of spice. Just what I love!!

Very enjoyable! Listening to this book in one day, because I couldn't wait.

This was probably the MOST boring book I’ve ever read. The plot had so much potential but the author really said “it’s no big deal, I’ll make the characters as dry as a piece of cardboard left under burning sun for a year”. I don’t have anything against this book, honestly. And I REALLY tried to love it. So. Hard. Ada wasn’t that bad, but Alex? Oh god. He was as appealing as the remaining ashes of 100 bucks. Meaning that initially he had great potential but he decided to be a *sad* boy all the damn time.

...... The tag line makes it sound like it's going to BE about Rapunzel but in reality it's not.

The main character is blonde and gets with a prince..... Her family was cursed by a witch that everyone is afraid of (Gothel figure) who curses King Phillip and queen Aurora for every first born will serve the enemy..... *Scoff* apparently on their back in this case because she's instantly like OMG I'm so drawn to him but ew. ...still gonna smash and like I could get with that in any other book but just something about this book isn't for me.

And I could see everything coming from a mile away.

Hands down the mom was the best character and she's only in It for a couple pages.

Persinette is cursed to protect the prince of her kingdom's enemy prince, Alex. She is also a fugitive because she can wield magic. There's a nice back story of history between the two. And there are multiple conflicting loyalties among the main characters that make their actions and decisions nuanced.
