About this audiobook

'Tis the season . . . for revenge.

Eleven years ago during Christmas, Martin Banks's family was thrown into the streets by wealthy landlord, Edwin Hartwell. Now this holiday season, fate has handed Martin an unexpected gift. Vengeance. Defeating Hartwell at cards gives Martin the chance to financially ruin the man-but damn, instead of money, Hartwell offers his daughter as payment. And double damn, Martin stupidly accepts. How did retribution turn into seduction? Martin refuses to let himself fall in love, so there must be rules to this game.

And perhaps a bit of romance.

Desperate to save her father from ruin, Livvy Hartwell agrees to accompany Martin as his paramour. She long ago accepted that a penniless bluestocking like herself had no chance for a well-suited marriage. If a few passionate months with a man like Martin is all she'll ever have as far as romance, it's an opportunity she will take. But she must guard her heart. He might be handsome as the devil and tempting as sin, but she can't be a typical mistress and doesn't want Martin to call her such. In fact, she has a list of rules.

Contains mature themes.

Loved the story. But I didn't like the narrator. Her voice for Livvy was pathetic. And Martin sounded like a robot without any emotion in it at all.

The story was a fascinating experience, and the love was so exciting for these two couples, and the way it ended was very fitting for the two families after what they had come through. For the young lady she is a light and gentle she did get all that she wanted.
The previous book was very much appreciated. Well, for lady Perdita Darby and Lord Vaughn Darlington meeting unusual way during a challenging of her best friends' honor known as Lady Alexander Worthing. But the lifelong friendship came to a stand still for a little while. But Lady Perdita had a bad man coming to her trying to dishonor her, and she had to seek the help of Lord Darlington known as the devil of London. Their arrangement, in her opinion, was to help save her from the evil Mr. Samuel Milburn, who went as far as trying to rape Lady Perdita Darby under the roof of her father during the Christmas holiday. He was stoped by Lord Vaughn Darlington who had to openup to Lady Perdita parent and he made to see that he did not do this for money but he has all the good Intentions to marry her at the end. Their daughter has accepted his proposal, and he is prepared to do just that to keep their daughter safe and protected.
After all, they got married, and he was almost killed by this. Mr. Samuel Milburn and his best friend and butler killed him. Great book and a very interesting ending.

The story was simple, which I don't mind that much, but the characters were also kinda simple, both in their complexity, and also unfortunately, a little bit in their minds. lol. It didn't *bother* me greatly, but it wasn't especially good either. As a short fluffy piece it was okay, so I'm still giving it 3 stars.
