Learn everything you need to know while supporting a worthy cause!

Coffee, soda, energy drinks/pills and tea are popular favorites all over the world. They taste good, keep us awake and are sold virtually everywhere. But did you know that they’re all loaded with caffeine? Up until now, the medical community has remained divided on the potentially negative effects these favorites could have on overall health. But more and more studies reveal that caffeine may not be safe in large quantities. And for some people, even small quantities may cause damage to delicate bodily systems.

The Truth About Caffeine exposes what some industries don’t want you to know about this highly addictive substance. By downloading this book, you can take real steps towards improving your health and supporting The Adrenal Foundation—an organization dedicated to promoting adrenal health education and helping individuals and families affected by adrenal disorders.

Caffeine is a drug that does not add any nutritional value to food or drink. The Truth About Caffeine presents a strong case for why it has never been proven safe and why caffeine consumption should be monitored and, in some cases, avoided. The book digs deeper into:

* The darker side of caffeine consumption

* Facts the beverage, confectionary and pharmaceutical industries don’t want you to know

* Caffeine’s potential role in heart disease, hypoglycemia, central nervous system disorders and certain cancers

* How to improve your overall health with regard to caffeine consumption

* And more

A portion from the proceeds of The Truth About Caffeine will go directly to the Adrenal Foundation. It’s available in print, ebook and audiobook format. Get your copy today to support an excellent cause and learn all you need to know about safeguarding your health from the effects of caffeine consumption.

    Marina Kushner, North America's leading authority on caffeine addiction, wrote this book as a mission, offering a great service to all of us. It alerts us to the dangers of addiction, and also offers advice on how to cut back on ingesting caffeine. Knowledge is power. What this book does is offer clarity about the symptoms of caffeine addiction, such as jittery nerves, and about its causes—beyond drinking coffee—which many of us are not always aware of, and thus consume these foods without considering the results. In particular, our society must consider a proper nutrition, one that is does not lead to caffeine addiction, for our children and teens, as these are their formative years, and for pregnant women, as some reports links caffeine to higher incidence of miscarriages. And since caffeine poisoning is a real danger, increased awareness about it may one day lead to regulate the food and drink we consume.I am glad this book is produced in audio so it may reach a wider audience. The narrating was well paced and reflected the sense of mission with which the book was written, and its thrust to motivate us for change.Five stars.

    While I'm on the subject, I read that book I bought a while ago The Truth About Caffeine. You'd think it would have fit me like a glove, and in fact that's why I bought it. Caffeine? Evil? Yes, tell me more. I sat down with it hungry for more advice, more facts, more figures, more concrete evidence that what I was feeling, quitting caffeine, was justified by scientists everywhere.Unfortunately, I didn't find that here. It is a TERRIBLE book. (And I don't use words in all caps lightly.) I'd call it a complete waste of time and $14.95, but I actually have this chivalrous sense of duty which makes me proud to warn you off it. Don't waste your own time reading this. Let this be a warning.The author (Marina Kushner) has the best of intentions, but sadly she doesn't have the scientific facts to back them up. Every page, nearly every paragraph, in this book is laced with non-absolute phrases like these: * Their chemical withdrawal can be just as painful... * ...it can lead to pain and discomfort... * ...leading some researchers to believe... * ...may increase the risk of... * Most research suggests...I swear, I just picked up the book and flipped through randomly to find those phrases above. I have no doubt that some doctors and some researchers are suggesting these malevolent ties between caffeine and health, and having gone over 6 months without any caffeine (mostly), I can attest to the benefits of doing without. I bet anything that ten or twenty years from now, as our obsession with longer and healthier lives really kicks into high gear, we'll have enough research under our belts to definitively substantiate these claims. However, now, in the age of Starbucks and Red Bull, this book seems to have been written several decades too soon. And its suggestive metrics and editorializing are off-putting.Editorializing? She sprinkles heavy adjectives and morbid references throughout this book like I used to sweeten up my coffee with sugar. Let me give you a few examples of that: * She refers to caffeine as a drug. A debilitating drug, even. * Coffee drinkers as either its victims or junkies. * American's addiction to coffee is referred to as "gluttony." * She refers to the "evils of caffeine" more than once. * She claims that coffee and caffeine "pose the number one drug threat in the world."The last few written pages of this book are dedicated to peddling a product she has created and sells: Soyfee, a caffeine-free, coffee-free, coffee substitute. What's the point? (I guess the same could be argued of my Diet Caffeine Free Coke. I just like the taste.) And the last 64 pages (of a 186-page book) are dedicated to printing Caffeine Awareness certificates, more bibliographic references than I thought possible, an index, and information about the author (more than I needed).So... If I'm an advocate for living caffeine free, why am I bashing this book? Because it's bad. Only a weak-minded fool will read this and see it as a reason to avoid caffeine. Anyone with half a brain will read this as what it is: propaganda. The fact that it is probably true is sad and incidental. All you're left with is a sense that this author is passionate about something, but she doesn't have the facts to back her opinions up.I'll wait for a scientific, non-biased analysis of what caffeine is and how it affects you, thank you very much.Invisible Lizard's Unusual Oranges
