About this audiobook

Betrayed the night before his wedding by the supposed boy of his dreams, Ethan Robinson escapes the devastating fallout by going on his honeymoon alone to the other side of the world. Hard of hearing and still struggling with the repercussions of being late-deafened, traveling by himself leaves him feeling painfully isolated with his raw, broken heart.

Clay Kelly never expected to be starting life over in his forties. He got hitched young, but now his wife has divorced him and remarried, his kids are grown, and he's left his rural Outback town. In a new career driving a tour bus on Australia's East Coast, Clay reckons he's happy enough. He enjoys his cricket, a few beers, and a quiet life. If he's a bit lonely, it's not the end of the world.

Clay befriends Ethan, hoping he can cheer up the sad-eyed young man, and a crush on an unattainable straight guy is exactly the safe distraction Ethan needs. Yet as the days pass and their connection grows, long-repressed desires surface in Clay, and they are shocked to discover romance sparking. Clay is the sexy, rugged man of Ethan's dreams, and as the clock counts down on their time together, neither wants this honeymoon to end.

Keira Andrews

After writing for years yet never really finding the right inspiration, Keira discovered her voice in gay romance, which has become a passion. She writes contemporary, historical, paranormal and fantasy fiction, and—although she loves delicious angst along the way—Keira firmly believes in happy endings. For as Oscar Wilde once said, “The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what fiction means.” You can find out more about Keira and her books at: www.keiraandrews.com

A lot of people have told me that I talk too quickly but only this book made me realise how important is accepting that feedback. Sweet without being too bland, with some emotional scenes. Had mixed feelings about jumping into another relationship in a vulnerable state but then both characters had their vulnerabilities and it was never about power imbalance.

This is my favorite book from Keira Andrews, I liked all of them but this one hits different. The romance is heartwarming and rich, the characters and their struggles ring true, it's not forced or too easy, but not too melodramatic either. Emotions good and bad are given a to breathe.
Loved Joel Leslie's work on the narration, the voice breaking on some of the lines, the very helpful switches between voices and accents.

So this is not a feel-good gay romance... at least not in the beginning. One of the main characters, Ethan, has a disability that affects the way he communicates and gets through life. Keira Andrews does an exquisite job of putting the reader in the shoes of someone who is trying to live life with hearing loss. It’s informative without being preachy.

The other main character (Clay) slowly realizes that he is falling for another man. He’s a divorced bloke with two adult children just a bit younger than his romantic interest. So there’s the disability, the age-gap & oh... Clay is also a repressed man. That’s a lot, right? But Andrews makes it work. Did I mention the bulk of this story is set against the beautiful Australian landscape?

If you only like fluff, this probably isn’t the story you. But if you like rich settings, real characters and a main character to root for, please give this a try.

I also want to add that Joel Leslie does an OUTSTANDING job on the narration. I’m not Australian, but his Aussie accent sounds very authentic.

Had mixed feelings about the story, but I enjoyed the couple. I was definitely not expecting to cry so many times during it. It was not what I was expecting.

Love the flow of the story. You can feel Ethan’s pain and anxiety and even the frustration at how condescending people can be.
Joel Leslie is an awesome narrator, like always.
    Excellent read.

A nice classical romance about two people right for each other meeting at the right time in their lives. No unnecessary angst and not much fluff which worked for me just fine. I loved the Australian scenery and slang. 3.5 stars.
