About this audiobook
Their paths to God's purpose led them together. Many know the heroic story of Jim Elliot's violent death in 1956, killed along with four other missionaries by a primitive Ecuadorian tribe they were seeking to reach. Many also know the prolific legacy of Elisabeth Elliot, whose inspiring influence on generations of believers through print, broadcast, and personal testimony continues to resonate, even after her own death in 2015. What many don't know is the remarkable story of how these two stalwart personalities-single-mindedly devoted to pursuing God's will for their young lives, certain their future callings would require them to sacrifice forever the blessings of marriage-found their hearts intertwined. Their paths to God's purpose led them together. Now, for the first time, their only child-daughter Valerie Elliot Shepard-unseals never-before-published letters and private journals that capture in first-person intimacy the attraction, struggle, drama, and devotion that became a most unlikely love story. Riveting for old and young alike, this moving account of their personal lives shines as a gold mine of lived-out truth, hard-fought purity, and an insider's view on two beloved Christian figures.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story of Jim and Elisabeth Elliott has long captivated me, but hearing their personal letters and journal entries took it to a whole new level. I was challenged and convincted by their continual surrender to God's will, their utter devotion to His Word, and the supreme importance they placed on prayer. I could hardly wait to put on my bluetooth device and press play. Highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was such a great read! I couldn't stop listening as I got caught up in the story- the limitations/ challenges of the physical places & times. All of the back & forth intricacies & feelings that often come with relationships even relevant to this day. It was a deep, intense, at times frustrating, read as you waited in patience for what you knew to be the final ending. It was wonderful.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An inspiring book of trusting in the Lord. Life changing.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5What a story. The story of the Eliot’s never fails to amaze. Personally it’s too long. This book of all about the famous missionaries is my least favorite, given it’s literally just correspondence, taxing and painfully repetitive. I think it would be much more interesting read as listened to. But that’s just me.
