About this audiobook

Welcome to Cabin Green, where the setting is familiar, but the story is completely unexpected. A terrifying slow-burn that combines the literary Gothic prose of Shirley Jackson, Ambrose Bierce, and Thomas Tryon with the "what's really real?" aspects of The Shining. Cabin Green has also been compared to the devastation of Hereditary and the socially progressive, ambiguous approach of Paul Tremblay.

Going to Cabin Green alone after the death of his fiancee was Ben's first mistake. His second mistake was tempting fate by saying, "There's no such thing as an evil building." Now he's caught in a nightmare of his own making deep in the woods of Northern Michigan. Even worse, a family history of mental illness makes it impossible for him to know if the ghosts haunting the cabin are real or all in his head.

This modern Gothic horror story takes the listener directly into Ben's hellish experience. Is he crazy? Is a ghost haunting him? The only way to find out is to make it to the end of this deep, dark thrill ride that's filled with more twists than a roller coaster.

2.5 stars. The concept was great, but this book really didn't do it for me.

It as a really good story Although a little overlong. I got tired of Bens stubborn resistance after awhile and just wanted to smack him. That wasn’t my big problem with the story tho. These kind of stories can go one of two ways. Rational explanation or supernatural. And your meant to wonder. It certainly kept you in suspense. The problem is I think it would have been a much better story if the ending went the other way. As it was.. it wasn’t the twist it could’ve been and it was just a let down with a dreary movie type ending. Disappointing. It reminded me a lot of a similar story about a woman in a cabin by a lake. Which had a much more satisfying ending. Still. Worth listening to.

I am so disappointed in this audiobook. There were scenarios that didn't seem to have any purpose to the premise and there were so many loose ends that I couldn't wrap my head around it in its entirety. The premise is confusing and so much of this audiobook was predictable. The ending was terrible but the most positive thing I can say is, I didn't hate it, um...actually I think I do hate it.
