After this book was published, I started writing short stori...view moreI have already written a book that was published in 2000. The name of the book is "Gifts For Her" and it was published by Vantage Press. After this book was published, I started writing short stories. One of my stories "Unprom" won a local short story contest. After that good news, I was on my way to writing more stories.
Some of my earlier stories were written when we lived on a ranch. We had just moved to the country from the big city so there was all kinds of new trials and happy moments to write about. When my husband and I bought this ranch, it came with a 20acre apple orchard, a 20 acre alfalfa field and we knew nothing of living on a ranch, so it was a big life change for us. Our new church was a country church and so different from our big city church.
We sold our large ranch and moved to a larger city. My husband and I are retired now and have more time to travel and I have lots of time to write short stories. I do a lot of reading and try to learn from authors I admire. About 20 years ago I started reading Charles Dickens and have read most of his novels. Because I am a Christian, my stories will have a definite message and I mix Scripture into my writing that will inspire or validate a certain idea that I am trying to bring across to the reader or that they can relate to.view less
