He graduated from Oberlin College and holds two graduate degrees from Yale University Divinity School. In retirement near Lake Michigan, he and his wife, Mary Ellen, enjoy their family scattered about the country in Michigan, Arizona, Connecticut and District of Columbia; and a family cottage on Crystal Lake, Beulah, Michigan, where he served twenty years (until retiring that in 2020) as resident manager of the LLC that owns and maintains the cottage. Now he happily occupies a pew in his Congregational United Church of Christ in Muskegon, Michigan.view less
