He is from a family of three children and being the oldest, he was destined for great purpose and leadership. From Oakhaven Elementary and High School to ITT Technical Institute, he learned the basic necessity for life survival. He has a lovely wife, Yolanda Townsend, and five children. He is a loving husband and father possessing a strong conviction in maintaining the family unit as God has instituted.
He was brought up in church and experienced a wide array of denominations before allowing the ways of the world to pull him in and separate him from his calling. In 1996, he rededicated himself wholly to God. In 1997 he answered his call by God to the Gospel ministry under the leadership of the late Dr. Leverda B. McGee and was ordained an Elder of Tri-Vantage Ministries, Inc, a non-denominational church.
In 2001 he married his wife, Yolanda and in 2002, they began a new segment in their Christ Journey by becoming members of New Hope Baptist Church of Memphis under the very wise and capable leadership of Pastor Robert J. Matthews. In 2003, Minister Townsend preached his first sermon at NHBC of Memphis entitled, “How Sweet It Is.” at which time he was licensed in the Baptist denomination to continue the work of the Father by Pastor Matthews. He has been blessed with the opportunity to preach, teach and deliver the Word of God at NHBC of Memphis and other churches throughout the tri-state area.
He has served NHBC of Memphis as Youth Minister, IT Director and Director of Multimedia. He has seen the mountain high and the valley low in his walk with Christ but has maintained the one profound truth that keeps him going in Psalm 37:25 “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
In September of 2012, the Holy Spirit gave him the vision and direction to relocate to the Atlanta, GA area and prepare to build the next step in his legacy. So, in October 2013, Emunah (Faith) Ministries was born and is currently viewed on FaceBook daily for its inspirational post. The future is to develop Emunah (Faith) Temple, a nondenominational place of worship for all people to come and share in the glory of God.
Minister Townsend has proven himself faithful. Not only with his ability to preach and teach the Gospel within the confinements of the four walls, but seeking after lost souls in the world. His ability to grasp the Word as it is written has enabled him to properly apply the doctrine in his everyday life. He has taken advantage of today’s technology to continue to spread the Word abroad; encouraging thousands on a daily basis.
His Love for God is unstoppable. He is definitely a man sent and called for such a time as this. He is an example of leadership being found faithful and true in the house of the Lord. He has been anointed as a teacher, profoundly dissecting the Word of God. He has a servant spirit, he is fun, loves to laugh, and just enjoys life to the fullest. He is kind, caring and available to listen and counsel with anyone at any time about anything.
His journey continues, with his eyes on the Father, his heart focused on the redemptive power of Jesus Christ, his ear attentive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and his heart filled with the Word, he has dedicated his service to being the man called by God for greatness with the completion of his first written work entitled "Mending Broken Vessels". He has been known to define his deliverance and praise with the following scripture:
John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”view less
