In the early days I would sit on the kitchen sink and "help" my grandma cook. I soon advanced to making the sauce for the Sunday afternoon Bar-B-Que then on to Bar-B-Queing the steaks for the whole family. This is something I really enjoyed.
I grew up eating everything on my plate (except liver). When we lived outside of town, we had a large garden, a variety of fruit trees and we raised chickens. I helped take care of the garden and pick the fruit. I also helped catch the chickens for dinner. (I never had to kill one). I watched grandma cook the food and I liked everything I ate.
I carried my interest in cooking forward. After I left home, I bought some recipe books and studied more. I enjoyed cooking. I married and my wife shared my interest in cooking. My mother-in-law also had a keen interest in cooking. She had many cookbooks and several boxes of recipes she had clipped from magazines and newspapers as she and her husband traveled on business, throughout the south and into California. Gail and I traveled all over the United States, Europe and Mexico. Sampling food and buying cookbooks as we went.
I kept a notes on the foods I liked and finally decided to publish them in this book. The recipes have been altered so they are healthier, tastier, and easier to make. I have also included a beverage guide and several appendixes covering things I have learned about wine, seasoning, nutrition, diet, exercise, weight control, supplements, and table settings.
I know you are going to like these recipes because they are my favorites.
