He is a past president of the UK History of Education Society and the British Educational Research Association, and a past Editor of the international journals History of Education and British Journal of Educational Studies. His recent publications include The Struggle for the History of Education, A Social History of Educational Studies and Research, Transnational Perspectives on Curriculum History and Cultural History of Education. He is the leader of an Economic and Social Research Council research project on the School Meals Service.view less
