In 1999, her book, Reading the Holocaust, was named best book of the year by the New York Times and won the NSW premier’s general history award. Clendinnen’s Boyer Lectures were published as True Stories in 2000, as was her award-winning memoir, Tiger’s Eye. In 2006, she was awarded an officer in the Order of Australia for her services as a writer and historian.view less
