He has received numerous ar...view moreGary White Deer of the Choctaw Nation, is an internationally-known painter, tribal chanter, dance leader and is Professor if Choctaw Studies at Bacone College, Oklahoma. He has received numerous art awards and honors including First Place at the Minneapolis Indian Market and Best of Show at the American Indian Exposition. He has held solo exhibitions in the American Embassy in Ireland, the Southern Plains Museum, Oklahoma and the Irish Arts Center, New York. Gary has lectured at venues such as Vanderbilt University, Trinity College, Dublin, the University of Oklahoma and Hunter College, NYC. He has served as a cultural presenter and Choctaw dance leader for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, for the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonials and for many other public events nationwide. He has discussed the Irish-Choctaw Famine link on many occasions and has appeared in a number of documentaries on RTÉ, BBC, PBS, National Geographic Explorer and Turner Broadcasting.view less
