He studied Psychology at University College, London, between 1978 and 1981, and after graduating was employed in a variety of short-term jobs related to his honours degree. He obtained an HNC in Computer Studies in 1987, and has worked as a freelance consultant who develops database systems for a variety of clients. In this capacity he has worked abroad on several occasions, and finds foreign travel stimulating.
He has written short stories, poems, belles-lettres and articles on a variety of subjects: some philosophical, some autobiographical, and some relating to places visited.
Many famous poets have moved him, and he believes that it is entirely possible for poetry to retain a link with tradition, and still be relevant to the modern world; and
that prose is often made richer by an influence from poetry.
His first publications were two poems in his university magazine, although his interest in writing and in literature stems from childhood. He has subsequently had many other pieces published - most notably two long essays in 'The Round Table', a journal produced by the Institute of Commonwealth Studies; a chapbook on proportional representation, published by the 'Paupers Press'; two essays in 'Horus', the Egypt Air in-flight magazine; a booklet, 'The Twilight of a Millennium – With Projects, Hopes and Fears'; and a full-length account of the life and times of a residential art deco building, 'A History of Du Cane Court: Land, Architecture, People and Politics'.view less
