She completed her PhD in history of science from Imperial College, Londo...view moreEmily Winterburn holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in History of Science from the University of Manchester. She completed her PhD in history of science from Imperial College, London and was most recently visiting fellow at the University of Leeds. Between 1998 and 2007 she worked at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. Emily has written extensively for commercial audiences with two trade books - The Astronomers Royal (NMM publishing, 2003) and The Stargazer’s Guide (Constable, 2008). She has spoken at conferences around the world and given public lectures on a variety of topics, including the Herschels.view less
