Gilman earned his BA in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and MA in photography and art history from Sam Houston State University. Since 1965 he has explored Mexico and Guatemala, often lingering and sometimes writing and taking pictures of the peoples and places. An avid reader, he has read extensively about Mesoamerican Pre-Colonial and Colonial history and culture. He lives with his lovely wife, Charlotte, in the woods of Central Texas.view less
