For more than a decade, she has been conducting research in the area of spirituality and medicine. She has convened several seminars in this area at Howard University, other unviersities and faith-based institutions. Her two prior books, Spirituality and Medicine: Can the Two Walk Together and Translating Spirituality in the Healing Professions are both testimonies to her interest and passion in this area. She and her co-author, Dr. Harold Betton are both uniquely qualified to contribute to the body of knowledge in this area. Dr. Hodges is an attorney-minister and Dr. Betton is a physician-minister. Together, they bring a wealth of experience in understanding the impact of the union of spirituality and medicine for patients and practictioners. This book is a continuation of the materials that they continue to share in the hopes that others will come to know the importance of patient centered healing. Dr. Hodges, a native of Selma, North Carolina, resides in Clinton, Maryland; however, she is employed in Washington, D.C.
