These challenges can be even greater for individuals who have experienced adversity, violence, and trauma. Based on my own experience as both a professional counselor and a survivor, I’ve developed the L.O.V.E. Model as a powerful tool for change. The Journey from Survivor to Overcomer: The L.O.V.E. Model describes in detail how the person who embraces life, sets goals, and moves forward out of adversity can accomplish extraordinary achievements and realize his or her greatest ambitions. The Journey from Survivor to Overcomer: The L.O.V.E. Model uses a series of innovative visualization and writing exercises to guide readers through the necessary steps for growth. Described in a personable and funny first-person voice, the L.O.V.E. Model will provide new opportunities for anyone looking to broaden their horizons and set foot on the path to their dreams.
About me: I’ve wanted to be “Dr. Love” since the age of eight. I worked tirelessly on a journey of learning, observing, visualizing, and evolving until I finally reached that goal. Throughout my journey, I have changed the lives of many through direct individual counseling, group workshops and seminars, and by remaining active in the community. A native of South Central Los Angeles, I served in the Armed Forces for fourteen years and spent eight years in financial services before realizing my dream of becoming a professional counselor. I published a doctoral dissertation in 2009. Now, I’m honored to support and encourage others in achieving their own goals using my L.O.V.E. Model. My tenacious desire to excel and succeed has allowed me to serve as an inspiration to others on their journey.
