She has worked as an English teacher in a public school for four years and has just completed her master of arts at University College London in English linguistics. She has been writing since she was eight years old. Her fifth-grade teacher first recognized her writing as “special,” and she was honored by her principal at age nine for writing a short story for creative writing class. Ever since then, she has been encouraged to write. Her thoughts, ideas, and feelings metamorphosed into words. She began her novel, Dark Sun, five years ago before even considering being a teacher.
Conveniently, after Najlaa became an English teacher in a public middle school in Kuwait, she was able to gain more insight on the world of women in her society. Her goal is to bring about awareness regarding some sensitive issues all societies prefer keeping in the dark and away from outsiders. She is the first young female author in her country to have written and published an English novel that portrays Kuwait’s society. Her dream is to build a domestic violence center in Kuwait where women and children can feel safe … a place they can turn to for help.view less
