Together with their three children under 7 they travelled to Asia in 1971. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal, she shared the adventure and challenge of third world living, with limited communication and hazardous transport as well as irregular water and electricity supplies.
Barbara was glad of a sense of humour when Philip was away in India and the Far East and she faced numerous domestic crises. She enjoyed writing newsy letters and getting to know her local neighbours.
Now a freelance writer, she looks back with gratitude for the privilege of experiencing life in the beautiful, developing country of Nepal.view less
