In 1994 she received a Hawthornden Castle Fellowship in Lasswade, Scotland, and in 2011 she received a Literary Artist Fellowship from the Wisconsin Arts Board for the first three chapters of her novel-in-progress, Cecelia Frost. She is represented by Laurie Abkemeier of DeFiore and Company in New York.
