Life in Color - Claudia Castellanos

    — Prologue —

For years, a question that my wife constantly asked me was: How do you hear God’s voice? Although I tried to explain, time and time again she would ask me the same question. Finally, on a trip we took to Isra el, she was able to hear God’s voice, which is when she understood how He speaks to the heart. I can assure you that every one of the teachings contained within this book are a result of someone who learned how to hear the Lord’s voice. There are people who speak of their accomplishments or merits, but within this book you will find the voice of God flowing through a woman who has been able to surrender completely, and consequently maintain the purity of the message.

It is not easy to stand before adversity, especially like the adversity we experienced on the day there was an assassination attempt against our lives. On that day, my wife Claudia stood and watched as all of her dreams dissolved in a matter of seconds, so much so that she felt helpless and did not know what to do. She had to face the feeling of loss as the person she loved was being torn from her hands without any logical explanation. However, that is when one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit was activated within her: the gift of faith, which helped her to escape that difficult situation. It is amazing to see what God does through someone who dares to believe Him and His promises. It was this kind of faith that gave her the strength and authority to face death and rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Because of that faith, she was able to walk through adverse circumstances, not fixing her eyes on them, but fixing her eyes on the promises the Lord has provided in His Word.

I can say that it was the kind of faith that God gave my wife, which helped us change the waters that tried to bring bitterness and pain to our family. When the angel of death wanted to take me from this world, he was unable to do so because there was a woman who knew how to value the power of the promises, a woman who clothed herself in authority to resist the enemy, and so he had to flee. This was how those bitter waters turned into a spring of peace, of life, and of blessing.

One of the most moving moments I have ever had to experience was the day we saw my father-in-law pass into eternity. It was then that I saw how, in the midst of pain and emptiness, my wife received one of the strongest revelations from God. It was a revelation that brought comfort and strength to her soul.

Behind every great conquest there are strong battles to be won. Through the prophet Isaiah, God said that a nation would be born in a day. Herein, you will be able to discover how the women’s ministry was born in one day. It was born with abundant fruit of over three thousand women making a confession of faith and surrendering their lives to the service of God. Faith and dependence on Him is the beacon that He gives to us that we may conquer every situation.

I remember sixteen years ago, when we were recuperating from the assassination attempt against our lives, we were leaving a Sunday service at a small local church in Houston, Texas. On that day my wife told me: God spoke to me and said that He would give us a son. Her words were illogical because it was humanly impossible; we had already made up our minds that we had more than enough with our four daughters. At the same time though, I thought: God has ways of surprising us. So I said, let it be. If the Lord has said it, He will do it. Sixteen years later God fulfilled this amazing promise in the least expected way.

I know that all of the experiences within the pages of this book will help you to grow in your faith and in your relationship with God.

Dear reader, in your hands you hold no common book. This is a book that will give you the keys needed to open iron gates, keys that will allow you to conquer the miracle that you have been longing for. I know that this book will become your best friend, as you begin to reach things that you cannot even imagine.

    Cesar Castellanos D.

    — Introduction —

We were on a family vacation. Everything was perfect. The place was a paradise, the scenery was beautiful, and everything was prepared with excellence. Everything was designed with family in mind, especially for children. My son, Matias, and my granddaughter, Shailoh, were in amazement. They were so excited to see a world that was designed for them. Everywhere they looked they saw bright colors; on one side there was a red-bottom pool, on each corner of the pool stood a cartoon drawing of their favorite character. In his excitement Matias looked at me and said: Mom, did you see that? Spiderman and Goofy are both here! Matias quickly took Shailoh by the hand and they ran off to explore.

We had so much fun that day. After a long day of physical activity, of playing with the children and spending time as a family, I was ready to go and rest. As we got to our room, and I got ready for bed, I was just reminiscing about our great day. Although we had a lot of fun, I realized that we were one of the few families in that place. I noticed that the majority of the people there were alone. Although everything was focused on the children, the facility was like a dreamland, most of the people visiting this place were older and their faces reflected loneliness, bitterness, and confusion.

In key moment of my life, God tends to speak to me through dreams, and that night was one of those moments. As I slept, I dreamt that I was walking into a beautiful room with luxurious decorations. Walking in, I found that I stood before a group of women who were dressed in fancy attire. I looked at them and their appearance reflected elegance, but the closer I got to them I was able to see their faces more clearly, and to my surprise the women had veils over their eyes. At that moment, the panorama widened, and I saw that everything was grey. Now, I not only saw the women, but behind each woman I saw their children. What I remember most about this scene is that each woman had their backs turned to their child. As a result the women did not notice the actions of their children. The young people seemed to be going through struggles that are common of today’s youth. They were bearing a burden that they could no longer carry as they drew closer to death. The saddest part of the dream was that the mothers did not notice the condition that their children were in.

As I awoke from my dream, I felt the Lord speak to me about the plan that He has for women. His plan is for every woman to be able to find that perfect balance in her life. We are constantly faced with examples of women who, in order to become successful in one area of their life, neglect either their family, or their ministry, or their relationship with God. However, in this time, God is extending an invitation to every woman, today He invites you to live life in color.

What do es it mean to live a life in color? For me, it means to live in God’s fullness. It means that you be successful in every area of your life, that you stop living in black and white and begin living in abundance. The Lord do es not want us to sacrifice one area to be successful in another; the Lord wants to give us the full package. Many times we have believed the lie that the world tries to sell us, that it is impossible to have it all. But God’s invitation to you is an invitation to experience the life that he has planned for you; it is a life in which you can have it all!

The purpose of this book is that you understand that a life of fullness is more than a vague idea. In my walk with God I have been a witness of His promises, and that those promises are real and are far more than mere concepts. In God’s faithfulness, He has allowed me to live a life that I could not have even imagined. The experiences of our lives are the best way to learn the most valuable lessons. In the pages of this book, as you read the stories of my life, my desire is to share a piece of my heart with you, and that through these lessons you understand that today God’s invitation to you is:

    Live life in color.

    Claudia.

    — Chapter 1 —

    DADDY, HOW DO I LOOK?

They say that from the instant he lays eyes on her, a father falls in love with his daughter.
    -Anonymous-

    My friend has gone

I still remember my last day with you very clearly.

You were surrounded by those whom you loved and who love you.

In those moments when we all knew you were minutes away from leaving,

So many thoughts crossed my mind:

You were one of the first people to carry me and hold me in your arms.

I heard your emotion when you spoke those words that would become a prophecy:

Daughter, I will be the best father to you.

Now as I watch your life ebb away, I can truly say that you kept your promise.

Throughout all of these years you allowed me to feel your love.

You gave me protection, you helped me to mature, and you became my mentor, my friend, my counselor.

Since I was just a little girl you always took such good care of me,

And though I was already a grown woman, you never stopped caring about how life was going for me.

From you, I learned to love my nation, and to prepare to do something for it.

Now as I watch you approach your final moments,

I wish I could turn back time, I wish I could have spent more time with you

I wish I could have sat at your feet to drink from the well of your wisdom,

There are so many things I wish I would have told you, it would have taken entire days to tell you all I had to say,

But I will summarize my feelings in a short phrase: Thank you my friend.

You were more than a father, you were a great friend.

On that day I had to make
